"Perhaps BMW's most beautiful coupe model."

Description

The BMW looks good. However, upon closer inspection, some hands-on work is needed, as well as tidying up previous repairs, see pictures. This is entirely possible but will require some effort and skill.

The car was sold new in Sweden and registered in the vehicle registry on November 17, 1983. We have been able to trace the ownership history back to 1987. The odometer currently shows just over 149,000 km. We cannot guarantee that the mileage is correct, but we have found nothing to suggest otherwise. The owner before the current one owned the car for 18 years, and one of the earlier owners had the car for 20 years. There have thus been few owners since new – a total of seven owners according to the Swedish Transport Agency's registry. Since the last inspection, which was carried out on April 30, 2026, the car has only covered about 200 km.

The car comes with an owner's manual, a filled-in service book, two ignition keys, and a number of inspection records. A spare wheel and jack are also included. A somewhat used exhaust system is included as well. Last but not least, a set of 14" aluminum wheels in good condition, with older tires, is also included. See pictures.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

When the engine is running, it sounds as it should and is responsive. Occasionally it may stall, and it will then not restart right away – you need to let it rest for a minute or so.

The engine may have been replaced, as the right front engine mount does not line up with the mount in the front subframe. The gear shifting works as it should. The temperature gauge does not work, and several warning lights do not go out while driving. The crankshaft pulley rubs against the radiator frame, and the small oil cooler appears to be hanging from zip ties. The exhaust system needs to be replaced in its entirety. The heater fan only works at full speed. Please study the pictures.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in usable condition with some flaws such as loose panels and minor damage, see photos.

  • Exterior condition

The paint itself is in OK condition. There is some dust in it, but nothing alarming. Some of the welding and body filler work could have been done better, including at the rear fender edges. The work carried out underneath could also have been done better, and traces of rust can be seen under the rustproofing, see photos.

  • General condition

A sharper BMW model in a condition that could have been better. There is definitely potential for improvement, but as previously stated, this requires the right person. The car was inspected and approved at the Swedish vehicle inspection in April 2026 and is therefore ready to drive. Study the photos carefully.

Facts about the model

The BMW E24 is the first generation of the BMW 6 Series grand tourer cars, produced from January 1976 to 1989, replacing the BMW E9 coupe. The E24 was produced solely in a 2-door coupe body style. All models used gasoline-powered straight-six engines, and most (except for the M635CSi/M6 model) used a version of the BMW M30 engine family. The E24 shared many parts with the E12 5 Series, and in 1982 it was updated with parts from the newly released E28 5 Series. The M635CSi is the first in the BMW M6 series and is powered by the M88/3 straight-six. In North America, the car is badged as the "M6" and uses the less powerful BMW S38 engine.
