"A lot has been awarded to this car, and it is well deserved; it is really attractive and has undergone extensive renovations."

Description

It was purchased new in Malmö by director Lederowsky in 1948, and he kept it until his death in 1978, when the estate transferred the Pontiac to Lederowsky's long-time private chauffeur. He owned the car until 1985, when it was purchased by Veteranbilsservice in Båstad with a higher renovation ambition than typical, with the purpose of creating a car that could represent the company renovation skills. And so was the outcome. Between 1985 and 1991, the car was renovated for six years, and it is estimated that approximately 3800 labor hours were spent on it. The car was then purchased by a man outside of Sundsvall, and it was under his ownership that it received all of the prizes; he was an active owner. After then, the car ended up outside of Umeå with a man who didn't drive much, and his estate sold it to the current owner, who is now selling due to a wonderful opportunity to buy a  new sports car from the USA.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Powerful side-valve engine in good working order, along with the rest of the driveline and hence the overall driving experience of the car, including brakes and steering. It was dubbed the Silver Streak I8 (inline 8 or straight 8).

  • Interior condition:

The decor is bright, clean, and appealing. Carpets, ceilings, sofas, and instrumentation all feel and look like new, despite the fact that the renovation is nearly 30 years old. Furthermore, substantial portions of the interior are original. Surprisingly, the instrument cluster is identical to that of the original Volvo PV444.

  • Exterior condition:

A stunning black cellulose paint, all in keeping with the car's original appearance. The car and its engine are both called Silver Streak, and the longitudinal chrome ribs on the bonnet and tailgate bear that moniker.

  • General condition:

A well-loved car, as evidenced by boxes full of accolades and awards from numerous conventions and exhibits. The fact that the condition is still so good is just further testament to the quality of the renovation work.
