"Sometimes I get the chance to inspect truly unique vehicles, and this is one of those occasions. Sure, a 2007 car isn’t brand new, but this one comes remarkably close, still retaining much of that new-car feel and scent. It has been driven regularly every summer, but only sparingly, and never in bad weather or winter conditions. The rear seat and luggage compartment are virtually unused. It has been serviced according to Saab’s recommendations."

Description

This car was first registered in Belgium on November 26, 2007. A Swedish resident living in Brussels purchased it and later brought it back to Sweden, where he registered it a year later. It was only used during his summer visits to Sweden, and even then, driven very sparingly. For the rest of the year, while he lived in Brussels, the car was stored in a heated garage at his residence on Lidingö.

Earlier this spring, the current owner — who worked for the housing association — was given the opportunity to buy the car. As a vehicle enthusiast with several classic cars and a custom chopper, his initial plan was to use it as a well-kept hobby car, but he soon realized it was in such an exceptional condition that it deserved to be preserved by a true Saab enthusiast.

When ordered new, nearly all available options at the time were selected, including leather upholstery, power features, a top-of-the-line radio and sound system, navigation, electric sunroof, and more.

The car comes with original documents, complete history, fully stamped service book, two keys, and all original accessories. Also included are all inspection records — each one earning “gold star” remarks for condition. The most recent inspection, at 16,100 km, was completed without any remarks on June 17, 2025. The latest service was performed at 19,060 km on August 22 this year.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and runs smoothly with a calm, refined engine and drivetrain. Now filled with 98-octane fuel. During a short test drive through a residential area and along local roads, the car performed exactly as its condition and mileage suggest — stable and comfortable. Steering, handling, automatic transmission (with kickdown tested), brakes, and other systems all functioned perfectly.

It has not been inspected on a lift, but from what could be seen, everything underneath appeared to be in excellent condition. Details such as brake calipers, brake lines, and other components looked virtually unused. It has consistently received praise during technical inspections. The engine bay is immaculate and retains its original appearance.

  • Interior condition:

Very fine and well-preserved original interior. Comfortable front seats and an excellent rear seat, with pristine door panels, textile mats, protective mats, and headliner. The edges around the sunroof are tight and well-kept. All details — such as the steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges — remain in equally fine original condition. No missing pixels were observed. The small plastic strip by the gear selector is damaged, but a brand-new replacement is included in its original packaging.

All electrical functions and instruments are working properly, as are the sound system and navigation unit (standard for 2007). The luggage compartment appears virtually unused. All accessories are included, and the cargo cover is also in beautifully preserved original condition.

  • Exterior condition:

Very fine and well-preserved original paintwork that has never been exposed to the wear and tear of the elements. There are a few small stone chips, a tiny door ding, and minor scratches from what appears to have been a light contact in the garage. These should polish out easily, as there is no sign of body damage. Glass, trim, emblems, and lighting details are all in excellent condition. Beautiful aluminum wheels with matching center caps and Michelin tires — most likely the original set from when the car was new.

  • General condition:

It’s like stepping into the Saab showroom in the spring of 2009 and finding a well-cared-for car that has been on the road for just over a year. With only 20,420 km on the odometer — about 10% of which was the journey home from Brussels — this is a truly exceptional classic for the Saab enthusiast.

Facts about the model

The Saab 9-5 replaced the 9000 model. Unlike its predecessor, it was now also available as a full estate version — the first since the Saab 95 was discontinued in 1978. The new 9-5 was based on the Opel Vectra platform. New features for Saab included an independent rear suspension. The engines and gearbox were evolutions of those from the 9000, while the interior received a thorough update.

The model became a success and carried a sporty character, particularly in the Aero version. It was also highly rated for safety. The estate version, in particular, became a desirable and sought-after car — a family vehicle with a hint of sportiness. The Aero 2.3T initially offered the driver 230 lively horsepower and strong performance, later receiving a few extra horsepower through updates in newer versions.

For the 2006 model year, the 9-5 received an upgrade with a new front end, new taillights, and revised instrumentation. The chassis and handling were improved, and new engines were introduced, adapted for both ethanol and petrol.

The Saab 9-5 BioPower was optimized to run on petrol or E85 ethanol. The version debuted in 2005, first as the 2.0t with 180 hp, followed in 2006 by the 2.3t with 210 hp. Maximum output was achieved when running on E85.

Generation 1 was produced from model years 1998 to 2010. In total, approximately 483,593 units were built.
