"A Swedish classic with an eye-catching color."

Description

The current owner is the third owner in succession. The two previous owners were a father and daughter. The father lived in Grängesberg, and he bought the car brand new from Janssons Motor in Ludvika. The Saab is still located in Grängesberg. The daughter lived in the USA when she inherited the car, but she had a summer cottage in Sweden, so she kept the Saab and used it when she was here. When it wasn't in use, it was stored in a heated garage. The current owner was offered to buy the car in 2017 when the daughter stopped coming to Sweden. He has also kept the Saab in a heated garage and only used it in good weather. During the current owner's time, the car has received a new front exhaust silencer, new front brake calipers, and new rear brake pads. There is rust, including around the wheel arches and around the rear window, as well as in other areas, and the headliner has come loose, as seen in the pictures. However, the overall condition of the car gives a good impression.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Noise issue, possibly related to the release bearing. Runs well in the engine and driveline. New front exhaust silencer. Left front brake caliper replaced. The car has received new brake pads for both rear wheels. Passenger-side door lock has been broken into, as seen in the picture.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in normal condition for the car's age. The headliner sags somewhat, and the upholstery on the C-pillars is torn. The upholstery on the inside of the doors has come loose at the lower edge. Bubbles in the upholstery on the glove compartment are starting to appear.

  • Exterior condition

There is rust present in various areas, as shown in the pictures. The underside of the car appears to be in decent condition. There are stone chips on the windshield, and there are scrapes on the bumpers, as seen in the pictures.

  • General condition

Despite the car showing signs of aging, the Saab still presents a decent overall impression.

Facts about the model

The Saab 900 began production in the fall of 1978 as a 1979 model. It was fundamentally a modified Saab 99. The most notable change was the longer front end, which was introduced to meet new American safety requirements. The car's overall length increased by 21 centimeters, and the wheelbase increased by just over 5 centimeters. Another significant change was the large curved windshield, which gave the cabin a sense of spaciousness. Initially, the Saab 900 was only available as a Combi coupe, but by 1981, the lineup was expanded to include a sedan. Production of the Saab 900 continued until the 1993 model year.
