"This has to be one of the best Amazons I've driven in recent years, with nothing that needs to be fixed or replaced for many years to come."

Description

The car was initially delivered on 10-05-1969 to Mr. and Mrs. Peijne from Vetlanda, and all the original hand and service books, as well as older registration paperwork, are included. The current owner purchased the car in Stockholm in 2014, where it was partially renovated, repainted, and given a renovated interior. After spending some time in Sweden, the car was exported to France for four years before being imported and registered once again in Sweden.

The car's engine had worn out and required renovation, so the current owner acquired a replacement B20 engine with a K Cam and had it totally renovated, along with other components such as the gearbox, double carbs, clutch, brake system, exhaust, electrics, cooling system, suspension etc... This owner values reliability and enjoys driving their classic car, as evidenced by the nice condition of both the car itself and its performance on the road.

The mileage is at least 161,000 km or more, however this cannot be verified.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

It's a joy to drive with no complaints. After a while, you'll be shocked that you're driving a car that's over 50 years old because it handles well in modern traffic. The engine bay is spotless and free of leaks. You'll have many years of trouble-free driving ahead of you.

  • Interior condition

Excellent and clean original interior with fine seats, mats, and instruments and no cracking on the vinyl instrument panel top. Last year, the headliner and all door rubber seals were replaced, as well as the rear seat belts fitted. "See image" for a small rip in the driver's rear seat.

  • Exterior condition

The bodywork is straight and free of rust or damage, and the chrome is in excellent shape. There is no trace of welding work on the underbody. The earlier paint has held up nicely and could only be improved with a polish; most minor paint imperfections are visible in the images.

  • General condition

This Amazon is ideal for anyone looking for a well-kept classic that is ready to drive this season. I wouldn't hesitate to climb into the car and drive it long distances.

Facts about the model

The Volvo Amazon 122S was a popular car produced between 1956 and 1970. It was a medium-sized family car developed by the Swedish automaker Volvo. The Amazon 122S had a four-cylinder engine with a power output of 85 horsepower and a top speed of around 100 mph.

The car got its name "Amazon" from an internal competition held at Volvo, where it won due to its excellent performance. The 122S was one of the first cars to have seat belts as standard, making it a very safe car for its time.
