"An extremely nice 245 in original condition with a known history. After a long period of standing still, the car has now been started up and received a 60 000-km service including a timing belt change and inspection."

Description

The car was bought new in December 1982, and he drove it until 1986 when he traded it in at Davidssons in Alvesta. It had then been driven about 40 000 km.

The car was bought by a man in Alvesta who drove it sparingly until he passed away in 1989. The Volvo was serviced on October 31, 1989, at 63,289 km and then stored in a heated garage. In 1992, the car was transferred to the widow, but as she did not have a driver's license, it was not used but only started up occasionally. When she passed away in 2021, the son took over ownership, and the car was still in the same garage.

The current owner, who has lived next door to the family all along, bought the car in 2022. He has now carried out an additional 60 000-km service and checked the brakes and had it inspected so it is now roadworthy. As the garage is full and space is needed for other items, he chooses to sell it on to another Volvo enthusiast.

Well-maintained car running smoothly without any issues. A 60 000 km service with timing belt replacement and brake renovation has been carried out before inspection.

  • Interior condition:

Original interior in absolute top condition, super clean. Small crack in the driver's side door console.

  • Exterior condition:

Original paint in an incredibly good condition, with a small damage on the right front fender and a couple of barely visible touch-ups on the driver's door. Rims and other exterior parts without any remarks. The tires are probably original and one can feel a bit of "flat spot" when driving.

A remarkably beautiful Volvo that will bring great joy to a new enthusiastic owner.

Facts about the model

Volvo 245 was built in over 1 million units from 1974 to 1993. The majority of production was exported, mainly to the US. Today, there are about 25,000 cars left in Sweden. Most of them have worn out and many older ones have rusted away. The last model years had better rust protection and lower parts of the body in galvanized sheet metal, which has made them last better. The cars stopped being produced in March 1993, and between 1991-1993 a lot of improvements were made, such as glued rear window, better insulation and rubber seals, nicer floor mats, and more. The plan was to continue producing the car for a few more years, as it was popular and sold well, but the Volvo 850, which was introduced in the fall of 1991, also became a success, and Volvo needed its production capacity for this model, which is why the 240 had to cease production in the spring of 1993. Ten years later, in 2003, the 240 was still the second most common car model on our roads in Sweden, but since then these cars have disappeared at a steady pace. Take the chance now, a nice, red 245 is no longer common.
