Description

The car was imported from Canada by the current owner four years ago and was registered in April 2020. The car has not been driven much in its new home country and the current owner needs to thin out their collection of Jaguars. According to the registry, it needs to be inspected this spring, and as a 1973 model, it will be exempt from inspection. In the registry, it is listed as an XKE, which is what the E-Type was officially called in the USA and Canada to pick up on the legacy of the earlier XK120, 140, and 150 models.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

With its powerful V12 engine and smooth engine sound, you can clearly feel how all cylinders desire for fuel. The manual transmission provides the correct gear feel, but a clonk can occasionally be heard from the driveshaft, either from its suspension or the gearbox.

  • Interior condition:

The leather interior could be improved with a reconditioning, but it displays normal wear given its age and miles. Good carpets and a classic British interior, complete with an aftermarket wood steering wheel.

  • Exterior condition:

Repainted in the original turquoise color. A door with some color variances.  Steel wheels with original chrome plating and decent Dunlop tires. Back in the day, that brand was OE (Original Equipment). The soft top is complete and in good condition, and it is made of simple vinyl.

  • General condition:

Nice late-model E-Type in good condition, with the slightly less common combination of V12 and manual transmission.

Facts about the model

Jaguar E-Type V12 serie 3 was the final version of the now legendary model and was produced between 1971 and 1975. It was also the most powerful version of the E-Type with the new 5.3-liter V12 engine producing 272 horsepower, along with a host of other technical improvements that made it both exclusive and highly sought after in its segment. The V12 engine was, for its time, a relatively advanced and sophisticated machine that had been developed by Jaguar over several years. It was originally intended for another model that never materialized, and the factory recognized the potential of the engine for the E-Type. The result was a car that was even more muscular than before, but still retaining the same beautiful design expression.
