It starts effortlessly with a strong-sounding engine, offers smooth gear shifts, and has effective brakes, though they squeak a bit due to not being driven much in the last year. Description

This Saab, along with two others, is being sold on behalf of the owner's estate. The family holds dear memories of it, as it has been in their possession since 1985. The owner, a Saab enthusiast, meticulously cared for his vehicles and took pleasure in driving them. Remarkably solid, the car shows no rust issues around the door edges and boasts an exceptionally clean underside. Approximately 15 years ago, it received a partial repaint and was treated with Dinitrol Rust protection in 2012, contributing to its current solid condition. During a test drive, the car performed well, demonstrating ample turbo pressure and still feeling rapid. It primarily needs a thorough service and a minor review to ensure it's ready for the next inspection at the end of April.

Automatic Performance Control (APC) stands as a pioneering system in engine knock and boost control, invented by Per Gillbrand at the Swedish car manufacturer SAAB. This innovative system was introduced in 1982, marking a significant advancement in automotive technology. It was first implemented on the turbocharged Saab H engines, showcasing SAAB's commitment to enhancing engine performance and efficiency through technological innovation.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car starts immediately, boasting a smoothly running and well-sounding engine. Both gear shift and brakes function properly, with the brakes exhibiting a slight squeak mainly due to infrequent use recently. The exhaust's middle section requires replacement, but a new one is included with the vehicle. It also features attractive spoke alloy wheels fitted with good tires.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is original and complete, with seats in good condition showing slight signs of wear; they would look great with s textile cleaning. The door cards on the front doors have warped slightly at the edges, and the headliner has begun to sag at the rear, with some repairs around the sunroof area. The manual sliding sunroof functions well, showing no leaks during car washing. Electric mirrors and the driver-side window operate correctly, although the button for the passenger window is missing. Additionally, the radio is in working order.

  • Exterior condition:

This car is highly presentable, featuring good, straight body panels without significant rust issues and a clean, undamaged underbody. The only notable rust is located under the driver's side plastic kick plate, with a small amount on the boot lid edges and a few spots on the boot and door edges (refer to pictures). The paintwork is shiny and bright and could be enhanced further with a simple polish, though there are a few small blisters near the rear right door handle. There is slight lifting on the front side rubber moldings, and the plastic on the rear bumper corner shows creases and small cracks in the tail lights (see pictures for details).

  • General condition:

With a thorough service, exhaust replacement, and a new inspection, you'll have a splendid 900 Turbo to enjoy for many years to come. Given that prices are still on the rise, it represents a wise investment. The minor cosmetic flaws can be addressed gradually over time.
