"In 1950s Sweden, a "storjänkare" (large US made car) was considered a substantial luxury vehicle. A coupe with tinted windows and without a B-pillar had an even richer aura. That this particular example has such a preserved history makes the car even more interesting."

Description

The car was originally delivered in 1954 by the dealership Willy & Co in Bern, Switzerland, and is reportedly likely to have been to someone on an international assignment from Sweden. It has been pre-registered in Sweden since December 1956. A little research in the archives could reveal more to further complete its history accurately. However, in 1974, the car was purchased by a well-known printer owner and car collector from Linköping. His son took over a few years later and drove it and the other cars in the collection sparingly. According to reports, the Capri was last driven 30 years ago. Today, the estate of the son is selling the car. There are inspection papers available from 1966 onwards, as well as service/lubrication cards noted from 1964 to 1997. The last approved inspection was done on May 13, 1997.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine has reportedly not been running for over 25 years and was not started at the time of documentation, but it turns over easily with a new 6-volt battery. The carburetor has been newly renovated by Q-Jet Service in Bålsta, an authority on older carburetors. As a result, the oil-filled air cleaner is currently disassembled in the trunk following the carburetor installation, which is also not entirely complete. Before starting, it's important that the tank is emptied and the fuel lines are inspected to ensure they are clean and connections secure. Therefore, after consultation, the estate has chosen to leave the car unstarted. A new owner will need to undertake this task. New brake parts are also among the spare parts.

  • Interior condition

The interior is nice and fresh, appearing to be in original condition. A beautiful dashboard with many details to admire, complemented by a clean headliner and good carpets. Furthermore, the trunk space is clean and nicely patinated.

  • Exterior condition

An older repaint that has held up well, with fenderskirts painted at a later time, showing a slight difference in shade. One of them is not mounted. As appropriate, there's plenty of nice chrome, along with new, stylish unmounted emblems.

  • General condition

A solid overall impression and good potential. With a standard mechanical inspection on a car that has been stationary for 30 years, the measures needed are relatively straightforward for the knowledgeable enthusiast.
