Description
Subsequently, the car was brought to Sweden and underwent registration inspection here on September 18, 2015. In recent years, it has received a complete rust protection treatment by Rostskyddsmetoder AB, new headlights, a new headliner, new tires, and a new battery. Service included new gasket for the valve cover and new spark plug cables. Additionally, new front shock absorbers, a new o-ring for the antenna, and a new mat in the trunk. Most parts were replaced due to prolonged periods of inactivity. All documentation, including inspection papers from England and Sweden, as well as instruction and service manuals, are included.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
It starts easily and ran quietly and smoothly. During the test drive, it provided a stable, calm, and harmonious driving experience. Everything seems to work well, including the engine, drivetrain, brakes, and other technical components. It hasn't been inspected on a lift, but what could be seen appeared to be in good condition.
-
Interior condition
Lovely "British style" with Mulberry Leather upholstery and beautiful wood, all in exquisite original condition. Picnic tables in the rear. The headliner has been replaced. All electrical components and gauges work flawlessly, and the air conditioning cools effectively.
-
Exterior condition
Painted in Bordeaux Red Metallic, which appears to be in original condition and is in a nicely maintained glossy and polished state. There are a few small stone chips and scratches. However, the sunroof has been repainted due to some minor damage (likely from stone chips or something falling on it). Otherwise, the glass, chrome, lighting, and rubber details are in excellent condition. The wheels are in great shape with newer Dunlop tires. Both the engine and trunk compartments are clean and neat in their original condition, with a newer carpet in the rear due to water damage from a leaking power antenna, which has been repaired. Complete original toolkit is included
-
General condition
The XJ6 and XJ40 models are plentiful. Narrowing it down to the Daimler versions, there are fewer available. In this fine, low-mileage condition, there are even fewer competitors. A unique history and a slightly rarer color combination with Bordeaux Red Metallic and Mulberry Leather Interior, along with the Daimler Sovereign's equipment featuring beautiful wood and picnic tables, make this a British icon. An intriguing and elegant classic, perfect for enthusiasts.

Facts about the model
For the 1974 model year, the Series II was introduced with some changes, such as a new grille and higher bumpers, etc. For the 1980 model year, the Series III was introduced with an update by Pininfarina. Although there were not many visible differences at first glance, there were many small adjustments that provided better space, more glass areas, less air resistance, and a more modern image.
On the technical side, the proven basic concept continued with, among other things, cast iron, but with better performance and, above all, lower fuel consumption. For the 1987 model year, a more extensive upgrade was introduced, which also received a new model name, XJ40. In addition to a new body, which was still unmistakably recognizable, the interior was upgraded. The new J-gate shifter and new instrumentation were added. New engines of 2.9 or 3.6 liters, now with both block and head in aluminum, were introduced, reducing weight by 25-30%. The Daimler version had its characteristic grille and a bit more luxury. XJ40 is often considered the last true Jaguar before Ford and Tata took over.
A total of 208,733 units of the XJ40 were produced, from the model years 1987 to 1994.
