"An exciting object in surprisingly good condition despite being stored and hidden for many years."

Description

According to the book "Rusch by Jan Malmstedt, this particular bike's frame number is among the earliest Rusch RM1 models.

At the time of the book's publication, it was not known that this particular bike still existed. The book lists three other frame numbers of known surviving Rusch mopeds in 2012. The production rate was only 1.5 mopeds per week, which meant that eager buyers had to queue up for the chance to purchase one of these sporty mopeds.

On July 1st, 1952, "bicycles with auxiliary motors" became legal in Sweden. Before that, all similar vehicles were classified as lightweight motorcycles. Early mopeds often had a regular bicycle as their base, onto which a loose motor was attached, driving the bike with a belt on the rear wheel or by replacing the rear wheel altogether with one that had an integrated motor. But these Rusch mopeds had a construction that was very similar to a motorcycle, with the motor mounted low in a cradle frame. These mopeds were hand-built with sand-bent tubes and originally had Victoria MS50 motors. Buyers could choose between different types of saddles and luggage racks. Can you guess which one was the coolest? Rusch quickly gained a reputation for being perhaps the best in quality and design when it came to mopeds.

One review stated, The entire Rusch moped is characterized by an extremely precise manufacturing process. The weld seams are well-made, and the painting and chrome are first-class. The brakes and suspension were the best quality available.

Facts about the model
