"No shortcuts were taken to achieve this result — a very well-restored motorcycle."

Description

Sometime in the late 1990s, the current owner purchased the motorcycle — then in pieces, waiting for someone patient enough to bring it back to life. It is a Honda that, at its launch in 1969, was called the Honda Dream CB750 Four. He thought that “one day” he would restore it properly. The years passed and the project lay dormant, but the dream remained. When the owner finally took on the project, it became more than a restoration — it was a complete overhaul. The Honda had also fallen out of the registry, so in 2021 it was re-registered. Since then, it has covered approximately 3,000 kilometers.

The engine, bored out to 836 cc, has been fully rebuilt by the owner himself. It runs smoothly and quietly, with no rattles — the cush drive rubbers have, of course, been replaced. According to the owner, you can stay in fifth gear through a roundabout and still feel it pull strongly and eagerly from low revs. The paint, Candy Ruby Red, was applied by Colorado Lack many years ago and still shimmers with deep gloss in the light. The frame is finished in the correct shade, giving the bike its proper character. All chrome is fine original condition — with the exception of the rims, which have been re-chromed. The exhaust system is original and flawless. The Michelin tires were fitted new in 2021.

Many parts — including chrome details, the seat, and the exhaust system — come from another bike that was converted into a café racer in its very first year. This gave the owner the opportunity to select the best components and let them live on here. All bolts, nuts, and spokes have been re-zinc plated. The steering head bearings are tapered, and the swingarm is fitted with needle bearings. It has been upgraded with a Dyna-S ignition system and a modern regulator/rectifier, and at the rear it features new aftermarket shock absorbers.

The Honda is currently off the road and preserved for winter storage, which is why it was not started at the time of photography. But in the remarkably fine condition it is in — and as the owner says — it’s simply a matter of installing the battery, turning on the fuel tap, checking the tire pressure, and riding off. One key, the original tool kit, and owner’s manuals are included (see photos).

Not started at the time of photography. According to the owner, the motorcycle functions as it should.

The paintwork is in very fine condition. The chrome is also in excellent shape, and the protective plastic is still in place on the lower chrome trim of the seat. Newer tires with good tread.

  • General condition:

A Honda CB750 Four in very fine, thoroughly restored condition. Achieving this has taken a long time — with 30 years of collecting NOS parts playing a major role — but also a commitment to never taking shortcuts to reach the final result. Top condition for a true enthusiast.

Facts about the model

The Honda Dream CB750 Four was launched in 1969 and quickly became a groundbreaking model that defined the modern sport motorcycle. It was one of the first mass-produced motorcycles with an inline four-cylinder 750 cc engine and a front disc brake — something highly unusual at the time. Honda drew design inspiration from its GP racing machines and aimed to deliver a high-performance, reliable motorcycle to a market that was demanding larger and faster bikes than previous Honda models.

The CB750 was introduced in the United States in January 1969 and in Japan in August the same year. The price was competitive (lower than many British and European sport bikes), which made it extremely popular immediately upon launch.
