"The car runs well and presents itself very nicely both inside and out."

Description

The car was likely imported to Sweden in 2013 from a dry state in the USA, given its fine bodywork, left-hand side steering wheel, and speedometer graded in miles. The previous owner bought it at the end of 2013 and used it relatively frequently during some summers. He reupholstered the interior and replaced the carpets, and the interior still looks almost brand new. The current owner purchased the car in 2022 and has done quite a bit, besides servicing, such as replacing the entire electrical system, and everything works perfectly. It has also received a new, stylish white paint job, previously black.

Facts about the model

The MG TF is the final model in MG’s popular T-series, which began with the TA in the 1930s. In addition to these two, there are also the TB, TC, and TD models. The entire T-series shares many common features, such as a body built on an ash wood frame mounted on a chassis.

The TF is a slight modernization of its predecessor, the MG TD. The main difference is that the TF’s body became slightly more streamlined with a sloping grille. Otherwise, the models are almost identical. The engine is a 1250 cc unit producing 58 horsepower in standard form, but aftermarket installation of a supercharger to increase power is relatively common. It is designated as the XPAG engine and is common in several other vintage BMC cars. The construction is simple with pushrods and two valves per cylinder.

Production of the TF took place from 1953 to 1955, and in the final year, it could be equipped with a 1500 cc engine, increasing power to 63 horsepower. Most of these cars were exported to the USA. Today, there are just over 100 TFs remaining in Sweden, with about ten of them equipped with the 1500 cc engine. The model is relatively sought after. The top speed is reported with the original gearing to be 142 km/h, and the engine revs at around 6600 rpm. The gearbox is a four-speed unit with unsynchronized first gear.
