Description
The car has only been driven during the brighter half of the year, never in rain, and has always been stored in a heated garage. The odometer now reads 48,370 km. It has received oil and filter changes every year, as well as brake fluid changes every other year. Last year, the coolant, brake fluid, rear differential oil, and gearbox oil were all replaced. The air conditioning system has recently been pressure tested and recharged.
The hood was repainted following a minor but rather unfortunate incident caused by an inspector during a vehicle inspection, which the inspection company covered. The trunk lid was also repainted when the owner removed the small rear spoiler. The spoiler and rear wheel arch protectors are included with the car, as the owner was not particularly fond of glued-on exterior details.
Included with the vehicle is the customary binder kept by meticulous owners, containing documents and paperwork from Germany, import records, all receipts, inspection reports, and other documentation from its time in Sweden. The original folder with owner’s manuals and two keys are also included.
Inspected and ready to drive.

Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The car starts easily and the engine runs smoothly and quietly, yet there is plenty of power available when desired. During a short test drive in a residential area, everything felt stable and functional in terms of steering, clutch, gearbox, handling, and brakes — a very refined and capable touring car.
Although the car was not inspected on a lift, we drove it up onto ramps to examine the underside. Everything appeared to be in very good condition and well maintained. -
Interior condition
The interior remains in original condition, with much of the new-car feel still intact. The seats offer excellent comfort, and the leather shows no signs of wear. Door panels, trim pieces, and carpets are all in equally fine condition. Textile protective floor mats are fitted. The steering wheel, controls, dashboard, gauges, and functions are all equally well preserved. Everything works as it should, and the air conditioning system has been pressure tested and recently recharged.
-
Exterior condition
Very fine and glossy original paintwork, although the hood and trunk lid have been repainted to a high standard. All details such as glass, trim, and lighting elements are in excellent condition. The wheels and Dunlop tires are in impeccable condition, as are the engine bay and luggage compartment. The convertible roof mechanism also functions flawlessly.
-
General condition
A very fine car with an excellent specification and most options ticked on the equipment list. Stylish in red and sporting an elegant roof design that allows you to choose between open-top and coupé driving at the touch of a button. A modern classic and enthusiast’s car, built with solid quality throughout.

Facts about the model
What we do know is that the new 300 SL racing car with gullwing doors, introduced in 1952, eventually evolved into a more civilized road-going version produced from 1954 to 1957. When production ended, Mercedes instead introduced an open Roadster with the same performance and styling, built from 1957 to 1963. Since then, Mercedes has always offered an open sports car carrying the SL designation.
In 1996, the range was expanded with a smaller and more compact version featuring a retractable hardtop. It was given the name SLK and was effectively “two cars in one” — Coupé or Cabriolet. The model quickly became popular, and the first-generation R170 was produced in more than 300,000 examples. Engines ranged from four- and six-cylinder units producing between 136 hp and 364 hp in the flagship SLK32 AMG. Virtually all engines, apart from the smallest four- and six-cylinder variants, featured supercharged fuel injection. Buyers could choose between a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission, depending on engine and drivetrain configuration.
In 2004, Mercedes introduced the updated R171 model. It was based on the same concept as its predecessor, but now the engine range was topped by a V8. Automatic gearboxes were available with between five and seven gears, depending on engine choice. The SLK55 AMG featured a V8 producing 400 hp. The model received a facelift in 2008.
