"Already upon stepping into the garage, it’s clear that the cars and equipment here are well cared for. This particular car has been meticulously maintained and looked after by its Alfa enthusiast owner. It has been carefully chosen and driven with the same level of care. For someone with the same passion, it’s simply a matter of taking over and continuing to look after it."

Description

This car was originally delivered to a dealer in Denmark but appears to have come to Sweden almost immediately and was sold new here. It was registered for road use on March 23, 2000. The first two owners kept the car for 4 and 7 years respectively, and the current owner acquired it on August 2, 2011, at which time it had reportedly covered 95,000 km.

For him, it marked a return as an Alfa owner, and the car has since been used as an enthusiast vehicle during the brighter summer months. The odometer now reads 133,070 km. The car has always been well cared for, kept in a heated garage, and serviced by its dedicated owners.

In addition to its fine V6 engine, this particular example is equipped with the so-called Sport III package, featuring Momo leather upholstery, a leather steering wheel, a lowered suspension, and painted side skirts. Beyond routine servicing, the current owner has had the timing belt replaced in April 2023 at 129,750 km. The radiator was replaced in May 2017 at 118,640 km, and the clutch was replaced in June 2013 at 103,350 km. Receipts are available for these and all other work carried out.

Included with the car is a folder containing the original manuals and a completed service book, as well as a binder with various literature, receipts, and inspection documents. As a nice piece of memorabilia, the original sales display sign from when the car was new at the Alfa Romeo dealership in Skövde is also included. Two keys are provided.

For those interested, two additional sets of wheels (15- and 16-inch) with older tires are included, along with binders of useful Alfa Romeo literature, Klassiker magazine issue no. 1 from 2024 featuring a report on the model, spare parts, and even a mechanic’s coverall. A red car cover is also included.

Recently inspected and ready to drive.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Started easily and ran smoothly and pleasantly. During a short test drive on smaller country roads and in residential areas, everything felt to be working well, with lively response, consistent steering, and a tight clutch and gearbox. Stable road holding and effective brakes contributed to a solid and enjoyable driving experience.

Not inspected on a lift, but what could be seen underneath appeared to be in good condition. The car has been rustproofed, and there have been no remarks at inspections.

  • Interior condition

Very fine and well-preserved leather upholstery with excellent comfort. The headliner, door panels, trim, and carpets are in equally good condition, all showing light patina with a hint of new-car feel remaining. The steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are of the same standard. All electrical functions operate properly. Updated stereo system. Fully functioning alarm.

  • Exterior condition

Attractive, glossy paintwork with light signs of use. Ditec Ceramic treatment carried out in April 2024, with minimal driving since. Glass, trim, emblems, and lighting details are in equally fine condition. Well-kept wheels fitted with newer Dunlop tires. Engine bay and luggage compartment are in well-preserved original condition.

  • General condition

Beautiful and widely acclaimed at launch, this family sports car still stands just as firmly on its own merits nearly 30 years later. Its design, execution, history, condition, and overall aura make it a truly fine classic—an enthusiast’s car and a worthy collector’s piece.

Owner's comment

All things have their time, and we have now chosen to prioritize our motorhome and that lifestyle. With a certain sense of regret, our Alfa interest is therefore taking a back seat, and both the car and a selection of Alfa-related items are being offered for sale.

Facts about the model

Alfa Romeo is, as is well known, a classic Italian car manufacturer, founded as early as 1910 in Milan. Today, its headquarters are in Turin, and it is part of the Stellantis group.

Over the years, the brand has had a varied history, yet despite this it has produced a large number of classic cars—many of them with distinctly sporting ambitions and characteristics.

In addition to pure competition cars and two-door sports cars, with or without a roof, Alfa Romeo has also introduced several fine family cars with a sporty edge. One of these is the 156 model, produced from 1997 to 2007, available both as a four-door saloon and a five-door estate. It quickly became popular and was named European Car of the Year in 1998.

The design was created by Walter de Silva and has received widespread acclaim over the years. At the time, engine options included the classic 2.0-litre Twin Spark or a 2.5-litre V6 producing 190 hp. Later, a GTA version was introduced, featuring a 3.2-litre V6 with 250 hp, along with upgraded handling and braking. Diesel options were also available, with 1.9-litre and 2.4-litre units.

The estate version, known as the Sportwagon, was introduced for the 2000 model year. For the 2004 model year, the model received a facelift by Giorgetto Giugiaro, including a revised front grille and new headlights.

In total, more than 680,000 examples were produced.
