"Nice and interesting rolling object, and can definitely be driven as is after some brake overhaul and general service."

It was delivered to carpenter Lennart Nilsson in Ullstorp, near Önnestad, outside Hässleholm, by Kristanstad Automobil AB on January 5th, 1966. The original price of the car was 12,590 SEK, and Nilsson traded in an Opel Rekord valued at 7,850 SEK. With that deduction plus turnover tax (as it was called then), the total amount came to an even 6,000 SEK.

Lennart Nilsson is said to have driven the car sparingly, and with the current mileage of 41 789 km, the total distance covered is estimated to be just under 148 000 km. It is likely that the odometer has rolled over once. The last approved inspection was conducted on June 13th, 2018, and the car was also exempted from further inspections. The car is being sold for the "Allmänna Arvsfonden" (the Swedish Inheritance Fund) and is sol without reserve

  • Mechanical condition:

Energetic and easy to start, the starter motor doesn't spin many revolutions, or even one revolution, before the B18 engine kicks in. Classic and reliable ticking from the valve lifters and an equally classic easy-to-operate gearbox. The brakes require a bit of gymnastics and/or overhaul and a parking brake adjustment.

  • Interior condition:

Nice red original upholstery, only the driver's seat backrest has a little wear and tear with some small holes. The car has had a cover-up upholstery for all these years and it shows, there's no sun fading or the like. The top of the instrument panel is, in typical PV and Amazon fashion, a little cracked, and the instrument housing has the usual flaky paint.

  • Exterior condition:

The owner has replaced all screens and attempted to paint parts of the doors, tailgate, and sills on their own. If one wants their G-series to have a perfect exterior, a complete repaint is necessary. The taillights are mounted a little too high. However, the car is also very healthy body-wise, as Lennart took great care to rustproof it. Four used screens come with it, as well as some rubber seals, a fuel tank, and other economy plates.

  • General condition:

This car is a good example of the sought-after and rare final PV model, making it a great option for a lighter project with excellent potential.

Facts about the model

The 1966 model of the Volvo PV was originally intended to be produced until the industrial holiday in 1966. However, the demand for the new Volvo 140 model exceeded expectations, and the management quickly made the decision to start transitioning production to the 140 model. They didn't want it to be delayed when it was scheduled to begin production as the 1967 model. As a result, the Volvo PV 544 series G was only produced for two months before the last PV rolled off the assembly line on October 26, 1966. These G-series models are therefore rarer and highly sought-after, and they also had a range of improvements that were unique to that specific model year.
