"A sensible 240 with original appearance, the few attributes that have been added are easy to restore if one wants an absolutely original feel."

Description

It was first registered in October 1989 by Motoria AB in Kungälv, a Volvo dealership. It served as a demo car there and was not sold to its first private owner until September three years later in 1992. At that time, the car had very low mileage and was practically new, having belonged to the widow of the first owner. The current owner purchased the car in 2005 and has since used it as a enthusiast summer car. There are notes and stamps in the service book, but according to information, the first owner also did a lot of service outside of the book

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine and gearbox feel and function normally, as does the chassis and brakes. The characteristic and for some reason prominent fan noise on this model is intact. Many would be able to identify a Volvo 240 just by the sound.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is fresh and neat, the upholstery is fine, and the seat cushions are firm. The steering wheel is adorned with a kind of leather steering wheel cover. In the trunk, there are traces of a sound system with wires and some kind of amplifier, but no damage to the rest of the interior.

  • Exterior condition:

According to information, the car has original paint and is in a nice condition. The current owner's son convinced his father early on to install white turn signals at the front, GLT rims, and a small lowering with accessory springs. There is a small surface rust spot on the sill at the left rear door, but the car has been extra rust protected by the first owner.

  • General condition:

This 244 model has gradually become an appealing collector's car in good condition, and it is precisely those that have been lightly used and well-kept that are of interest to many, such as this particular example.

Facts about the model

The evolution of the iconic Swedish family car, the Volvo 240, from 1975 to 1993, has transformed it from a mass-produced vehicle to a collectible car that spans many years. There are still 240s rolling around as raw, working vehicles in our salt-laden winter roads, and in many places in the US, a 240 is one of the toughest workhorses you can drive, especially on the West Coast.
