"A tough car with a cool engine sound."

Description

The Camaro RS model with its covered headlights is an icon among Americans. In 1968, the model received vacuum-operated headlight doors in the grille, which almost never work today. Many drivers in history have had to get out of the car and manually open them because the vacuum system has failed. However, this car has had the entire vacuum system restored by the current owner, including new vacuum motors, tank, hoses, doors complete with mechanism, and even a new grille. The alternative is to modify them to be electrically operated instead, but the owner thought it was more correct to renovate the entire system instead. The Camaro has a V8 engine with 327 cuin, coupled with a Powerglide automatic transmission, and it shifts and sounds just like it should. The car was repainted many years ago but is still shiny and beautiful. Much of the car's chrome work has been replaced, such as bumpers and some trims. The car has never been modified or rebuilt, a fate that unfortunately has met most of these cars. A new original-style exhaust system was installed in 2020, and the car received new tires with white stripes in 2021. The same year, the subframe got new bushings, the rear axle got new shock absorbers, and the luggage compartment got a new mat. The bumpers, taillights, side markers, and backup lights were also replaced. A new steering wheel was installed in 2022, but the original steering wheel comes with the car. Camaro's in original condition, are difficult to find today. A modern radio with an original look is also included for those who want a better stereo, but with an original appearance, see photo. The car was featured on the cover of the Swedish magazine "Motorhistoriskt Magasin" from MHS, Motorhistoriska sällskapet, No. 1, 2020.

There is a hole in the headliner, but a new headliner is included, see picture. Otherwise, the interior is in good condition.

  • Exterior condition:

A partially restored and well-maintained 1968 Camaro RS. It has been well taken care of and remains largely in its original state, which is rare today. The unique vacuum-powered feature for the covers in front of the headlights works and is rare to see in working order today.
