Description

For the first 50 years, this car was driven in the Umeå area, and later on the west coast. Since the 1980s, it has been used as a collector car. The current owner, a mechanic and Volvo aficionado, renovated the car between 2020 and 2021 and is now selling it in order to pursue a new project. The car has been totally disassembled, blasted, epoxy primed, and repainted in its original colour. Each component is individually painted. The engine, with a B20 block, has been rebuilt with new pistons and bearings, and it has been lightly bored (0.15). Carburetor and radiator were both rebuilt. A new generator and starter motor have been installed. Overdrive gearboxes have been tested. Front trailer beam and rear axle with link arms were restored and repainted in their original colours. New bushings, brakes, shock absorbers, tyres, tank, and exhaust system, among other things. On the inside, there is a new headliner, carpets, door sides, leather upholstery, and mouldings, all in the original design and obtained through VP-Autoparts (receipts are available, for over SEK 220,000 in materials). As a result, the car is in close show condition. The only thing that can be seen under close inspection are the small dust particles in some areas of the paint. However, it is thick and even in colour throughout the car, and all surfaces are straight, smooth, and fine, so this can be removed with a reconditioned company polish. The car was produced in Gothenburg and retains the original curving thick side mouldings in chrome, as well as bumpers, grille, and lamps, among other features. Everything is in excellent shape, with no damage or scrapes. (The metre reads little over 92760 km, and we assume it has spun around once; so mileage is 192,000km?

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

It was a delight to take the test drive. It's a simple start. The engine cranks nicely, and the brakes take straight and good road positioning. Simply honk the horn and enjoy the ride. All future inspections have been completed and approved. In connection with the renovation, the engine was changed to a B20 sport with dual carburetors.

  • Interior condition:

Complete and nice. There are no comments. The majority of the interior is brand new and correctly assembled. Nice new leather upholstery, much like the original.

  • Exterior condition:

Straight and lovely in the body and beneath. Professionally repaired  Good fit and shut lines on doors and hoods. However, new rubber seals make the boot and doors a touch sluggish to close (gets better with a little warmer summer weather). We had mentioned some dust particles in the paintwork.

  • General condition:

Beautiful automobile with great detailing. Everything is lovely and brand new. Professionally completed renovation with a lot of money spent on everything. The best collector condition, or functional condition, for persons who expect to use the car substantially during the summer.

Facts about the model
