Description
The first owner covered fewer than 14,000 kilometres over a ten-year period. After passing through the hands of a couple of subsequent owners, all based in the Västergötland region, the current owner acquired the car in June 2025 with approximately 45,000 kilometres recorded.
A comprehensive folder containing service invoices accompanies the car, although the original service booklet is not present. The current owner has carried out oil services himself on a couple of occasions over the past year. Today, the Z4 has covered a total of 50,400 kilometres. The reason for sale is the prospect of another BMW enthusiast’s car joining the family collection.
The most recent approved roadworthiness inspection was completed on 8 August 2025.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
If not quite exhibiting the feel of a brand-new car, every function comes remarkably close. The car has been exceptionally well preserved and carries its 17 years with notable grace. The engine, gearbox, brakes, and clutch all deliver a reassuringly solid and well-sorted driving experience.
-
Interior condition
Light-coloured leather seats create a bright and inviting cabin, complemented by an otherwise very well-presented interior. The retractable metal hardtop features an attractive headliner, and the overall ambience is both comfortable and refined. A small mark is present high on the driver's seat backrest, likely caused by the seatbelt. The climate control system blows cold air as intended.
-
Exterior condition
The car retains its original paintwork, which presents very well and contributes to an attractive, carefully maintained appearance. There is a very small blemish on the edge of the boot lid, barely noticeable. The choice of Hifly budget tyres is somewhat surprising, although they are relatively recent, dating from 2022. The left rear wheel shows some additional scuffing, likely the result of a previous owner's mishap. Aside from these minor points, the overall impression is that of a presentable and well-kept exterior.
-
General condition
Like most vehicles that are cherished as enthusiast cars from the day they leave the showroom—and cared for accordingly—this example has been exceptionally well preserved. This car is very much one of those vehicles.

Facts about the model
The E89 signalled a move towards higher interior quality, increased cabin space, and the introduction of BMW’s “sDrive” designation to emphasise its rear-wheel-drive layout. Beneath the long bonnet of the sDrive30i sat BMW’s acclaimed naturally aspirated 3.0-litre inline-six engine (N52), producing 258 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. The result was smooth, linear power delivery accompanied by the classic, sonorous soundtrack for which BMW’s six-cylinder engines are renowned.
Power was transmitted to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 5.6 seconds. Production was relocated during 2009 from Spartanburg, South Carolina, to Regensburg, Germany. The sDrive30i remained in production until 2011, when its naturally aspirated inline-six was phased out in favour of more fuel-efficient turbocharged four-cylinder engines.
As a result, the E89 has become an increasingly desirable modern classic among enthusiasts who appreciate the traditional BMW formula of a naturally aspirated straight-six engine driving the rear wheels.
