"When this Bus rolled into our depot, we knew it was something special. It came with a mountain of paperwork, a lifetime of care, wedding photos, and a history as long as your arm. Just watch the video—you’ll see exactly what we mean."

Description

Originally sold new in 1958—complete with an original photo—the first owner had the Bus fitted with several dealer extras, including uniquely positioned lower chrome side trim, chrome bumper accents, and a factory two-tone paint scheme.

The current owner purchased the Bus in 1976, and it quickly became a beloved part of the family. It began life as a wedding car and went on to serve as a loyal travel companion across Europe—journeying from northern Sweden all the way to Spain, France, and the Alps, often wild camping and even helping to rescue wildlife along the way. It carries a lifetime of memories.

Thoughtfully planned and built to a high standard, the interior showcases skilled carpentry with clever storage solutions, a fold-out double bed that converts into a sofa, a detachable table, a fridge, and an electric ventilation system. It also features an older kerosene wallas heater, which works but would benefit from a service.

In the rear, lifting the tailgate reveals a fully functioning camp kitchen, complete with a two-burner gas stove, electric-pumped water supply, pop-out wash area, generous storage, and easy access to the gas bottle. A true rolling home, built for adventure and ready for more.

The van has always been kept in fully running and well-maintained condition. Over the years, it has had three engines, with the current one—a factory-built 1600cc Brazilian motor 50hp—installed a few years ago and only driven approx 2000 km. It was fitted with all new components, including carburetor, electrics, and a dual 12V battery system: one for the engine, the other for interior power needs.

The front and rear suspension were upgraded using components from a 1965 model, and in the 1980s the body was stripped to bare metal, received necessary rust repairs and welding, and was then fully repainted and undersealed.

More recently, the brake system has been completely overhauled with all worn parts replaced, new copper brake lines installed, gas-filled shock absorbers fitted, along with new tires and rubber seals throughout. It also comes with a full extra rubber seal kit for future replacement.

The list of work and maintenance is extensive, but in short—this is a solid, reliable, and well-sorted bus. It drives exceptionally well with no steering wobble, making it a joy to use on the road.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Starts instantly on the first turn of the key, with the engine running smoothly and sounding just right. It drives well through the gearbox and has strong, reliable brakes. Best of all, the steering is direct with no wobble slight play—making it a relaxed and confident drive. The wheels are in good condition, fitted with newer tires, and the engine bay is clean and well-maintained. It also features a fully functional roof-mounted searchlight and towbar. Inspection-exempt forever and ready for its next owner to enjoy.

  • Interior condition

Interior is clean and fresh, with no musty odors or signs of moisture. The front seats were replaced years ago with comfortable Volvo 164 seats, offering a major comfort upgrade. The cabin area is tidy, featuring clean rubber mats and a well-kept dashboard. A fake radio was installed following a break-in during the 1980s, when the original radio was stolen. A unique hidden safety deposit box hatch was also added under the seat for extra security.

The living space in the rear is clean and well-organized, featuring custom-fitted cushions, roll-down blinds, window covers, and wooden headliner panels. The storage areas and paneling are nicely built, fully functional, and very practical. The electric fridge works perfectly, as does the entire rear kitchen setup—everything is ready for use.

  • Exterior condition

Bodywork is very solid with no rust issues. There’s a small dent on the roof and rear hatch (see pictures), but overall, the structure is sound. The underbody is exceptionally clean and tidy, with no rust—just some signs of older welding repairs. The paintwork, redone in the 1980s, has held up well. While it shows some marks and touch-ups throughout (see pictures), it still presents nicely. There are a few cracks in the paint where an old ventilation panel was previously covered—nothing serious, just signs of aging. Chrome trim is clean and bright all around, though the door handle shows some oxidation.

  • General condition

You’re buying a well-sorted camper bus that’s ready for new adventures—packed with history, documentation, and decades of loving care. A truly special and reliable classic that’s been cherished every step of the way.
