"Restored to original specification with high quality and a fine finish. Everything has been carefully done by enthusiasts with expert knowledge and a passion for 1970s Kawasaki machines."

Description

This machine was registered for road use in Sweden on May 12, 2020. The current owner, a Kawasaki enthusiast, imported it from France. It was restored there in 2019 by a specialist in two-stroke motorcycles. The frame, tank, and side covers were repainted in original colors. Both wheels were fully restored with new bearings and new tires. The seat cover was also replaced.

The cylinders were rebored and fitted with new pistons and bearings. The connecting rod and crankshaft bearings were also replaced. All engine gaskets were renewed, and fresh oil was added. The gearbox was overhauled with all-new bearings and gaskets. New oil seals were installed along with new fork gaiters and fork oil. The brakes were completely restored, including a new master cylinder. The electrical wiring was checked and found to be in good condition. All new parts used were original Kawasaki components. The restoration is fully documented with photos.

In Sweden, further work included a clutch overhaul with new plates and springs, carburetor and ignition tuning, reinforced and welded cylinder heads, modernized combustion chambers, and new spark plugs. This work was carried out by EBOS in Landskrona, and receipts are available.

The oil pump has been disconnected—on recommendation from EBOS—and the current owner mixes two-stroke oil with gasoline when refueling.

Included with the bike are the original shock absorbers, a set of IKON aftermarket shocks, spark plugs, a right-side control switch (on/off and light functions), various spare bulbs, and a new steering damper. In addition to the photo documentation and receipts, the bike comes with the inspection report from the registration inspection and the latest roadworthiness test.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and the engine runs smoothly and steadily. Performed well and felt lively during a short test ride in an industrial area. Some slight squeaking from the brakes, likely due to having been stationary for a while. Otherwise, everything appeared to function as it should. Dry and in good condition.

  • Interior condition:

Nicely reupholstered seat, with the original toolkit stored underneath—a rare find. New battery pack installed. The left-side control switch is new, and a matching new right-side switch is included but not yet installed. All controls and gauges are fully functional, as are all electrical systems.

  • Exterior condition:

Beautiful restoration and repaint in original specification. All details—such as chrome, rubber parts, emblems, lighting components, etc.—are in excellent condition. There is a small dent on one of the exhaust pipes on the right side. The wheels are in great shape and fitted with newer tires.

  • General condition:

In addition to being in excellent, restored condition with great rideability, this machine is also an icon from the two-stroke era and the early 1970s, when Kawasaki emerged as a serious contender. A stunning classic and a collectible vehicle that is ready to ride and user-friendly.

Facts about the model

Kawasaki’s heritage reaches back to 1896, and today the brand is considered one of Japan’s “Big Four” motorcycle manufacturers—albeit the smallest, after Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki. For many enthusiasts, the first real encounter with Kawasaki came when the triple-cylinder, two-stroke H1 arrived at the turn of the 1960s–70s, boasting 500 cc and 60 hp. Riders stared wide-eyed at its three cylinders, with two exhaust pipes on one side and one on the other, and the Mach III designation only added to the mystique. The road-racing version, the H1-R, made its mark on the results sheets of the era.

Kawasaki later introduced the H2—also known as the Mach IV—a 750 cc machine delivering 74 hp and a top speed of 190 km/h in stock form. It featured a five-speed gearbox, with stopping power provided by a single front disc and a rear drum brake. The model was produced from 1972 to 1975.
