Description

This Audi 100 belongs to the second generation, introduced in 1976, also known as the C2. It was both roomier and had a more modern design language than its predecessor. With its well-balanced 5-cylinder engine and redesigned suspension, Audi aimed to position this model closer to BMW and Mercedes in the market. This effort succeeded, and the Audi 100 C2 became a great success.

According to information from the Swedish Transport Agency, only 162 examples of the Audi 100 C2 from 1977-1979 remain in the Swedish car register today. How many of these are still in traffic is unknown, but we are confident that very few of them are in such fine condition.

This particular car was purchased new in 1978 by a lady in Lund. According to the service booklet, it had only 17,000 kilometers (10,563 miles) four years later. She must have been very fond of her Audi as she kept it until 2009, when it was sold to a middle-aged gentleman. He later traded in the well-maintained car at a dealership in Helsingborg. The current owner, Karl-Erik, who lives in Karlskoga, was on a vacation trip to Skåne when he happened to see it at the dealership. Having previously restored several vintage cars for himself, he could hardly believe his eyes when he saw this untouched low-mileage car. He fell for the beautifully green-sparkling car, reserved it, went home, and sold a vintage car he had restored to mint condition over several years. The low-mileage Audi 100 was not cheap.

• But worth every penny, says Karl-Erik.

The car caught the attention of motor journalist Carl Legelius, who wrote a large article about it in the magazine Klassiker, issue 3, 2013. Currently, the car has driven 87,782 kilometers (54,570 miles). The car has been driven about 200 kilometers (124 miles) each summer since Karl-Erik bought it in 2012. He now feels ready to pass the baton to the next Audi enthusiast, hoping the car will find a good home. The car comes with numerous inspection protocols to track the mileage, the owner’s manual, service booklet, and warranty certificate from 1978. Even the service plate in credit card size, which was presented during car service, is included. This is extremely rare and shows that the car’s historical value was recognized early on. Can we hope that Swedish Audi enthusiasts will step forward? These cars attract great interest across Europe.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Straight five-cylinder 2.0L engine with overhead camshaft and mechanical Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The power is rated at 115 hp. Four-speed manual transmission. Starts easily and runs smoothly and steadily on the road. A cozy retro feel to drive without a lot of electronic systems. Everything works. The buyer needs to replace the timing belt. Not because of mileage but because of age.

  • Interior condition:

Unusually fine and well-maintained interior for this model. There are only minor signs of wear over the years. There is some entry wear on the driver’s seat backrest with a small damage. The top of the passenger seat near the headrest has minor damage. See the photos. The instrument panel is in great condition and the headliner is neat. All four rubber floor mats are present and included. The trunk is in nearly new condition. The original tools are included. See the picture where we test the original tool for removing the hubcaps.

  • Exterior condition:

Original paint in very good condition. There are a few stone chips. Fantastic green metallic color. The windshield is in great condition and likely the one installed at the car’s original delivery. Very unusual. The driving instruction sticker is still in place, and the windshield has VW markings. See the photos. Beautiful chrome and shiny trim.

  • General condition:

When you see the car, you realize that the Audi 100 was just this nice and cheeky in the 1970s.
