"A Saab that has been spared from salty winters as it has been rested during the dark season."

Description

This Saab 99 was purchased by the current owner for nostalgic reasons, as everyone in the family drove older Saabs. The car has had 7 owners, including dealerships. According to reports, the car has never seen a weld since it was built. The hood has been repainted, and the preparatory work is not the best. The hood and left door have some color variations and might also have been repainted. This Sunset Orange Saab has not been used during winter since 1978. The car passed its inspection without any remarks in April 2024 and is now exempt from further inspections. The current owner performed maintenance on the car in 2023, which included changing the engine oil, gearbox oil, filters, ignition cables, and spark plugs. The car has good tires. Included with the car are a roof rack and a center console, see pictures. The clock makes a noise but usually stays still.

Facts about the model

The “broad-shouldered Swede” SAAB 99 began production as a 1969 model. A two-door, front-wheel-drive car with an 80 hp engine, and the following year, a four-door version and an 87 hp injection engine were introduced. Numerous improvements and upgrades were made relatively quickly, including engine and body modifications as well as many safety features, which received praise and positive reception.

For the 1974 model year, the engine was a 2.0L producing 95 hp in the standard models. New high seats with integrated headrests that had holes to insert a cushion were introduced. There was also a new steering wheel, better heating and ventilation, and a headrest ramp with four defroster nozzles on the backrest of the rear seat, as there was still no electrically heated rear window. New door locks and retractable seat belts were also introduced in 1974. In Sweden, Saab was successful, reaching 41,700 cars sold. A total of 588,643 units of the model 99 were sold. More powerful variants like the EMS and LE were also produced, with the EMS being launched as a sporty family car with various sporty accessories. In 1976, Saab made a groundbreaking announcement, presenting plans for a turbocharged engine.
