Description
The car received additional insulation, a fully rebuilt engine, enamel-coated exhaust manifolds, an upgraded alternator, a stainless steel exhaust system, and a complete overhaul of both the front and rear suspension as well as the brakes. Since the restoration, the car has been driven sparingly but exercised at least a couple of times each year, and it has always been serviced with regular changes of engine oil, filters, and brake fluid.
The odometer shows 83,730 km, which is stated to be correct, although this cannot be guaranteed. It has only covered approximately 1,000 km since 2012. Various documentation is included, such as the original registration certificate, the original owner’s handbook and warranty booklet, a service manual, lubrication chart, and numerous receipts. Also included are new door mirrors and a complete unused set of new carpets purchased from Joe’s Garage, as well as a box of useful spare parts. Three sets of keys are included.
The car has permanent inspection status under current regulations and is road-ready.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The newly rebuilt engine and other mechanical components from 2008 start easily and run smoothly. Stainless steel exhaust system. During the test drive, everything was perceived to function very well in terms of steering, road handling, automatic transmission with fully functioning kickdown, and brakes. The underside was not inspected in detail, but the car is rust-protected, and much of the mechanical work was renewed during the restoration and appeared to be in very good condition, as did the underbody. No remarks were noted at the vehicle inspection.
-
Interior condition
Pleasant and well-preserved original interior with good comfort in both the front seats and rear bench. Door panels and headliner are in very good condition. The carpets show normal wear, but new ones are included. Fine wood trim, steering wheel, controls, and instruments. All electrical functions appear to work well, including the electrically heated rear window. The clock needs attention. The ammeter is bypassed. A period-correct Blaupunkt radio works nicely. Windscreen-mounted antenna.
-
Exterior condition
The paintwork is glossy and presentable with normal age-related wear, though it is almost worn through on the upper sections of the front fenders. It is likely original, although some areas may have been touched up. The left front fender at the wheel arch shows a slight soft indentation near the top. There are also minor scuffs and early signs of corrosion along the lower edges of the fenders and sills.
Glass, chrome, trim, badges, and lighting details are all in fine condition. Fog lights are fitted, and the original ventilation grilles are included. All lighting functions correctly, including the reverse light. The wheels, hubcaps, and trim rings are in very good condition, as are the Hankook tires (with removable white sidewalls).
The engine bay and trunk are in very nice, well-preserved condition. The complete original tool kit is present in the spare wheel. -
General condition
An elegant car from the era when British pop bands, Carnaby Street, and detective fiction captured the world. Jaguar’s mid-size saloon was one of the cult cars to emerge from the British Isles at the time. At its core it is a sports sedan with significant performance resources, but with the small, silky-smooth straight-six and automatic transmission, this example is more of a refined cruiser in a tailored suit. Presented here is a fine specimen that has undergone a mechanical restoration and is today a classic and highly sought-after enthusiast vehicle.

Facts about the model
Externally, the Mk II differed from its predecessor in several ways. For example, the upper body was redesigned with larger window areas, improving visibility by 18 percent. The updated appearance also featured a new grille and larger headlights in a revised position. The interior was likewise revised, with an improved instrument layout. The Mk II also introduced disc brakes on all four wheels as standard.
From September 1967 to April 1969, production of the Mk II was extended as a “gap filler” before the introduction of the new XJ6. During this period, the 2.4L and 3.4L models were renamed the 240 and 340, while the 3.8-litre version was discontinued. Visually, the cars received minor updates at the rear, and front fog lights were replaced by ventilation grilles—although fog lights could still be ordered as an option. The bumpers were made thinner. The new versions featured a synthetic leather interior called Ambla and slightly simpler carpets; otherwise, most elements remained as before. When the XJ6 was introduced in September 1968, the 3.4L model was discontinued, while the 2.4L remained in production until the very end.
Interestingly, when the 240 version was introduced, its engine output increased to 133 hp from the previous 120 hp, thanks to a revised cylinder head with twin SU HS6 carburetors (replacing Solex) and a new intake manifold. The 240/340 models also received the more modern Borg Warner 35 automatic transmission. Thus, although the model now carried a somewhat “downgraded image,” it actually gained improved performance—at least with the smaller, agile straight-six under the hood. In total, 83,976 cars of the Mk II series were produced, of which 4,446 were 240 models built between 1967 and 1969.
There was also a Daimler version produced between 1962 and 1969, equipped with a 2.5-litre V8 engine producing 144 hp. It featured, among other things, the distinctive Daimler grille. A total of 17,620 examples of this version were built.
