Description

Charlotte Christina "Lotten" Olsson (1869-1949) enjoyed a successful career as an actress at the Ekelundska theaters in Stockholm starting from 1888. Her film debut occurred in Mauritz Stiller's "Gunnar Hedes saga" in 1923.

Lotten Olsson's acquisition of the chassis was facilitated through Wiklunds, the Rolls-Royce dealership in Sweden, located on Strandvägen. The chassis was then transported to Gustaf Nordberg's coachbuilder shop on Tegnérgatan in Norrmalm, Stockholm. There, it received a splendid landaulet body, essentially a covered limousine with a retractable rear portion of the roof. Later on, Nordbergs transformed it into a limousine. Initially, the car was black in color, but in the 1970s, it underwent renovation and was repainted in its current two-tone light yellow scheme.

The car has been in the possession of the same family since 1975 and, at one point in the 1980s, spent time in the south of France, where it participated in numerous high-society vintage car events, including the "MONACO IV RALLYE VOITURES ANCIENNES 1983," which can be viewed on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3LQTPWQ7_4

The car has been part of the family's classic car collection since the late 1980s. In recent years, some service work has been performed on it, and according to the owner, it was started this summer and driven with the use of an external fuel tank. It's a truly remarkable-looking car, inviting you to sit back and admire the craftsmanship and exquisite chrome work. However, to ensure it can be put back on the road, it will need a comprehensive review and servicing.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

This stunning car features a complete and well-preserved 12-cylinder 7.3-liter engine under its double-opening bonnet. It includes valuable extras like a spare set of spark plugs and a full service toolkit beneath the driver's seat. While the engine turns over, it needs some work, such as cleaning the fuel tank, reviewing the fuel system, and a full servicing, to get it back on the road. The car is adorned with impressive wire wheels and, although the white wall tires are old, they remain in good condition. It's a promising project for restoration and enjoyment by an enthusiast.

  • Interior condition:

Interesting feature is the front seats for the driver are leather and the rear passenger have plush text seats with double extra fold out seat. The whole interior is complete and in a good condition with slight signs of wear and patina on the seats, good carpets slightly older now, all original dashboard and gauges and one missing window wider of the passengers door.

  • Exterior condition:

The car's body and panels are in great shape, with the only noticeable issue being a slight gap on the lower edge of the rear right door. The underbody is clean and free from damage. While the 50-year-old repainted exterior still looks good and shiny, there are some minor blisters and paint cracks around the roof, doors, and wheel arches, as seen in the pictures. A thorough polish and detailing could enhance its appearance. However, the rubber on the running board is dry and shows signs of rust underneath, which may require attention.

  • General condition:

This is indeed a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of Swedish history, and with the right knowledge of vintage Rolls Royce cars, restoring it to roadworthy condition shouldn't be overly challenging. As for your personal request, enjoying a ride in this beautifully restored car would undoubtedly be a memorable experience.
