"Very fresh car, from the car museum where its stood since 1995. Last started Sept. 2017, so it needs a start up service, brake inspection and new battery."

This car has gone a total of 122080 km were it was driven in Östersund during its first ten years, between 1969- 1979. From 1980-1982 the car was renovated by a VW mechanic in Huddinge, were it received a re spray, rust protection treatment and replacement of worn parts such as drive shafts, brakes, exhaust system, shock absorbers, new hoses, tires etc.…. Since the mid-1990´s, Sparreholms Bilmuseum's has owned and displayed the car, started and run periodically. The last time it was started and run was 14/9/2019, and then it was noted that the right rear brake need fixing and right front window is sluggish to close up (manual winder). The car has been garaged in a dry spot so the paint and chrome work looks good, There are a few minor parking dents on the left front door (see picture). No rust problems on the body work. Needs start up service, new battery, brake inspection and good polish, then the car will be in top condition again. Workshop manual, service book, and instruction book plus more follow with the car, see pictures.

Facts about the model

A very rare a collectable piece of NSU history, Series production began in October 1967 and the last examples came off the production line in April 1977.
During 1968, the first full year of production, 5,986 cars were produced, increasing to 7,811 in 1969 and falling slightly to 7,200 in 1970. After 1970 output declined, to 3,000-4,000 cars per year for the next three years. The relatively high fuel consumption of the rotary engine worked against the car after the dramatic fuel price rises accompanying the oil crisis of 1973, and between 1974 and 1976 annual production came in well below 2,000 units. In total 37,398

Ro80s were produced during the ten-year production run. Ultimately, it was the contrasting success of the similarly-sized Audi 100 that sealed both the fate of the Ro 80, and the NSU brand as a whole within the Auto Union-NSU combine, as parent company Volkswagen began nurturing Audi as its performance-luxury brand in the late 1970s. After the discontinuation of the Ro 80 in 1977, the Neckarsulm plant was switched over entirely to producing Audi's C- and D- platform vehicles (the 100/200, and later the Audi A6 and A8), and the NSU brand disappeared from the public eye.
