Description

The build began in 2005 after extensive initial planning by the owner/builder, which ultimately led to choosing the possibilities offered by a Westfield kit. Various engine options were considered, and the idea of using a Ford V6 gradually took shape. This engine is lighter than Ford’s own four-cylinder Zetec units and even lighter than the Rover V8 commonly used in many kit cars.

Over the years, numerous ideas, developments, and solutions have come together, resulting in a car that today is fully road-ready following the necessary inspection, servicing, and approval. The silencers currently fitted meet the 95 dB track noise limit, and an alternative exhaust system from Raka Rör AB in Mölndal—offering a louder and more characterful sound—is included for road use, where no noise measurement applies.

In the registration documents, the car is listed as “Olofson V6,” and the most recent approved inspection was carried out on 2018-06-04. In the photos, there is some ice and icicles present, as a few layers of dust were rinsed off in sub-zero temperatures—after all, ice is cleaner and more fun than old dust on a car.

The original Ford V6 engine and a used S2000 gearbox with worn synchros are included.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

    The recipe of a small, lightweight, well-balanced chassis with a lightweight V6 positioned far back in the car has proven to be a very appealing combination, both on paper and in practice. A 3.0-litre Jaguar engine, Honda S2000 gearbox, and Ford Sierra differential form the drivetrain.

    The car has been resting in a heated garage for several years—essentially since the pandemic—and will therefore require a general check before being put back into use, including brakes, oil service, battery, and similar items. The engine was not started during documentation, as the battery lacked sufficient charge and a booster proved inadequate for the small race battery, which is weight-optimised and mounted in a hard-to-access position in front of the passenger’s feet.

    A major advantage—and a key requirement—for this engine setup is the oil system, which features an accumulator tank that provides full oil pressure as soon as the ignition is switched on and retains oil in the galleries and seals. In addition, the oil system is equipped with a heat exchanger to ensure correct oil temperature in all conditions, from cool spring and autumn road driving to track use on a hot summer day.

    The car is run—like a race car—without glycol in the cooling system, instead using corrosion protection and a surface-tension-reducing additive in the water. A new owner will receive both theoretical and practical instruction on the car from the current owner, who will also be available for further support if needed.

  • Interior condition:

    Purpose-built interior with racing seats, six-point harnesses, and a display angled and recessed within the dashboard for optimal readability in direct sunlight. The current owner is 175 cm tall, and there are in fact a few centimetres of rearward adjustment available in the driver’s seat.

  • Exterior condition:

    A classically attractive colour scheme in British Racing Green with gold-painted 13-inch Minilite wheels. The owner has tested both Yokohama A048 and Toyo R888R tyres: the Yokohamas offer a more precise feel and a character closer to a pure race car, while the Toyos provide higher outright grip but require greater sensitivity from the driver to fully exploit that grip.

    The car has a small area of damage at the rear, covered with black fabric tape, caused by a metal gate that was blown over by the wind in the Mantorp paddock. A minor scar that feels largely insignificant on a track-focused, driver-oriented car. A small LED brake light bar mounted on the roll bar provides effective illumination under braking.

  • General condition:

    The auction car has not been test-driven or started in our presence, but all documentation, experience, and reports indicate that this is an excellent opportunity for a new owner who values a well-thought-out, driver-focused, and affordable machine—perfect for enjoyable, sporty, and minimalist driving to and from track days.

Westfield has long produced kit cars inspired by the Lotus/Caterham Super 7, and many owners have experimented with a wide range of drivetrain options, from motorcycle engines to V8s. Regardless of the engine choice, the car represents a very cost-effective alternative to all replicas—and perhaps most of all to the real thing itself, the Lotus/Caterham Super Seven.

  • At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
  • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
