Description

This Honda was originally purchased new by a lady in Germany and was brought to Sweden in 2003, where it has been cared for by enthusiastic owners.

The current owner has made several improvements, which he describes below—see Owner’s Comment.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The Honda runs excellently and functions well. The brakes work smoothly with no tendency to pull to one side. A new radiator and timing belt kit are included, as it will soon be time for a replacement.

  • Interior condition:

The original interior is in fine and well-maintained condition, with only one minor flaw—a small damage on the driver's seat backrest near the entry area.

  • Exterior condition:

The paint is in excellent condition, free from any damage, and the bodywork is straight and clean. Notably, it has remained remarkably free from rust, which is quite rare.

The rear spoiler is a hard-to-find feature, as it was not originally sold in Sweden. The car also has good tires mounted on stylish rims.

  • General condition:

A rarely seen Honda in exceptional condition, as many have succumbed to rust over the years. A delightful Japanese classic that offers great driving pleasure and is well worth preserving.

Owner's comment

A Well-Sorted Honda Civic VT with Tasteful Upgrades This Honda Civic VT was originally sold in Germany and was owned by a lady who reportedly used it as a shopping car, according to the first Swedish owner who imported it. The previous owner—along with myself—has invested significantly in the car, thoroughly going through it. The engine and drivetrain were inspected and refreshed. It features an aftermarket header and a sports exhaust system. A short shifter has also been installed for sportier gear changes. The chassis has been reinforced, featuring adjustable coilovers from Form and Function, which allow for height and stiffness adjustments. Additionally, it has strut braces in the front and rear, along with a rear sway bar from an Integra Type R for improved handling. The braking system has been upgraded, with 282mm front brakes from a Honda CR-V. The car sits on 15” Rota Slipstream wheels, wrapped in Nankang tires that are in good condition. Aside from these performance upgrades, the body remains mostly original and retains all the correct VT-specific parts. New clips and fasteners were installed to ensure that trims and moldings are properly fitted. The door quarter windows have also been replaced. A rare EF9-style rear wing with an integrated brake light is mounted, though the light has yet to be wired in. Additional work includes a new windshield installed in 2024. The sale also includes a new radiator (as the current one is aging), along with a timing belt kit and a water pump, since a replacement will soon be needed due to age.

Facts about the model

The Birth of the Honda Civic & the Fourth Generation (1987-1991)
In the early 1970s, fuel prices rose sharply, while demand for smaller, affordable cars with better fuel economy increased. Honda—already known for being ahead of its time—was prepared. The company introduced a fuel-efficient engine and launched the first-generation Civic in 1972, just before the 1973 oil crisis. The name Civic reflected Honda's vision of creating “a car designed for citizens and cities.”

Fourth Generation (1987-1991)
In September 1987, Honda introduced the fourth-generation Civic, featuring a new family of 1.5-liter, 16-valve engines and a smoother body design. Fuel injection was added, and Honda’s renowned double-wishbone suspension became standard—enhancing sportier handling and improving ride quality.
