"Swedish-sold, left-hand drive Rolls-Royces with a correct import history from the then general agent Förenade Bil have a completely different resonance and value than a right-hand drive with an unclear history. This example, with its additionally cheerful color combination, is a fine representative of the former."

Description

The car comes from the Sandahls collections, which Bilweb Auctions AB will sell under four different themes in early spring: first, some of the family's popular workhorses, mainly Mercedes, Volkswagen, and a wildcard; then half a dozen exclusive Rolls-Royce and Jaguar cars; followed by a selection of early Ford cars and a Chevrolet from the early years of motoring. Finally, there will be nine different award-winning and representative full-size American cars from 1959, the year of the largest fins.

Sandahls is now one of Sweden's largest family-owned transport conglomerates. The company was founded in Värnamo in 1949. Previous generations have collected about 40 cars under various themes in their private museum for many years. Bilweb Auctions AB has now been entrusted with the honor of selling these in four rounds in February and March this year.

Facts about the model

The Silver Shadow was Rolls-Royce and Bentley's first model with a monocoque body and was produced between 1965 and 1980. A corresponding Bentley was called the slightly less charming T-series, but was identical except for badges, grille, and slightly different bonnet. "The modest man drives a Bentley" was sometimes said, and with production figures of 30,057 for the Silver Shadow and 2,336 for the T-series, the owner of the latter was not only modest but also highly unusual.
