Description
This car comes from the Sandahl collection, which Bilweb Auctions AB will be selling in early spring under four different themes; first out some of the family's popular workhorses, mainly Mercedes and Volkswagen, then half a dozen exclusive fine Rolls-Royce and Jaguar, followed by a selection of early Ford cars and a Chevrolet from the infancy and youth of motoring. The last will be nine different prize-winning and representative full-size American cars from 1959, the year when the fins were at their largest.
Sandahls is today one of Sweden's largest family-owned transport conglomerates. The company was founded in Värnamo in 1949. Older generations have in their private museum over many years collected around 40 cars under various themes. Bilweb Auctions AB has now been honored to sell these in four rounds in February and March this year.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The car starts smoothly with a well-functioning engine, gearshift, and brakes. It was last inspected in 2008 and has since been on display in a museum. It's currently undergoing servicing and inspection. The alloy wheels are in good condition, but the older tires have flat spots, suggesting a need for replacement. All electrical components, including windows, roof, mirrors, and air conditioning, are operational and the engine bay is very tidy. The car also comes with a factory towbar, but this is defective and can not be mounted. The radio and electric aerial are not working.
-
Interior condition
The entire interior is remarkably well-preserved and undamaged, which is impressive given its 34-year age. To reach perfection, it may benefit from an interior reconditioning. There are two minor light marks on the passenger seat, as shown in the pictures. The instrument panel is in excellent condition, featuring well-maintained gauges with no signs of damage.
-
Exterior condition
The bodywork remains in straight and in great condition, free from any rust or damage, and the underbody is clean and undamaged as well. The paintwork retains its brightness and has been well-maintained, displaying only a few minor scratches in some areas, including a small one on the bootlid. With a good polish, it can easily be restored to a like-new appearance.
-
General condition
These cars are becoming increasingly desirable due to their classic design and exceptional build quality. They offer a fantastic driving experience and are known for their reliability, making them an ideal choice for summer outings with family or even for towing something fun behind you. The combination of low mileage and a manual gearbox adds to their overall appeal. The car was inspected/MOT on 2024-01-30 but failed because the detachable towbar cannot be mounted. (A follow-up inspection is required, which must be carried out by 2024-02-29 at the latest).
