Description
"The car was exported to California in 1958 and imported to Sweden in 1987. It was run a couple of years by father and son Pettersson before his father started a long and thorough renovation. The car was completely dismantled and thoroughly renovated to its original condition. Unfortunately, he never saw the finished results of his work before he passed away.
In the autumn of 2010 I bought the car which was then in a number of boxes. The chassis was rust repair, blasted and painted, and all the outer planes were painted in the original Orient Red. All chrome was new and almost complete. All rubber parts were replaced with new ones and I installed a brand new complete electrical wiring loom. Electronic ignition system is located under the distributor cover and I fitted seat belts. The gas locking problem is completely gone because I enlarged the heat shield plate, provided it with modern thermal insulation, built an extra shield between the manifold and the intake, exhaust bandage on the manifold, mounted a cowling fan and the icing on the cake I have Evans in the cooler. No tendencies towards gas locks or boiling even when queuing on hot summer days. Complete purchase log and a variety of photos are available from the renovation.
After less than two years of assembly work, I inspected the car in May 2012. I got remarks on that speedometer showed mph and reflex light on the rear light. With this fixed it was approved and ready for traffic on 2012-05-04.
Since then, it's just been a few little fixes. The last job was to renovate the carburetors with new wear parts in 2018 when I received a note at the inspection. Approved 2018-05-29 without no remarks and after that the car was inspection-free by virtue of its age.
The car is in top condition and is doing well despite its more than 60 years. It has driven very few miles since the renovation, only on dry road conditions and stands in heated garage.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The owner has mounted and implemented a number of measures to increase operational safety that he also tells about in the paragraph above. Cooling and insulation to avoid gad locks, among other things, a common phenomenon on this model in strictly original factory version. It runs and sounds like a proper MGA should.
-
Interior condition
The interior and dashboard is in great condition and the seats have a beautiful patination on the leather.
-
Exterior condition
It has a beautiful and deep red paint that has kept the quality over the years. The spoke wheels and its spinner wing nuts, have a nice and stylish finish. The roof has rarely or never been used; the car is only used in preferred weather conditions and then you use the cockpit canopy instead. The slots in side windows are included.
-
General condition
It’s a carefully renovated and refined MGA in a user-friendly and beautiful condition. Ready for those nice summer trips and easily keep up in modern day’s traffic. Go for a drive, and make the world a little more beautiful.
