"Renovated to retain the feel of prior decades and reassembled into its current condition"

Description

The car was delivered new in May 1963 to a young couple who soon after had a child and had to look around for something more practical. It was then bought lightly used with just over 1,000 miles on the odometer a year later by Nils-Olof from Nässjö who, after a few more years, decided to give the car his own quality touch. This example is one of the cars that were manufactured in Gothenburg from the spring of 1963, after production was moved there from Jensen in England. Hence the model designation 1800S. The car has never been driven in winter and is also never welded.
In 1976 it was inspected and retired after just over 5,000 miles driven and with many thoughts and ambitions, among other things the B18 engine was to be replaced by an Elleman-Jakobsen-tuned B20 engine. Furthermore, Nils-Olof wanted to give his 1800S an exterior touch of the last year's models with different rims, moldings and details. But his other vehicles and interests, including classic Swedish motorcycles, took their toll and the completion dragged on.
In 2010, the previous owner inherited the car and he too had an ambition to finish the build, but time ran out and finally his friend, the current owner, bought the car and had it finished in his workshop. After 46 years of inactivity, it came out on its own wheels again in 2022. It comes with a considerable collection of documentation in a large box, including original workshop and parts books. The car was inspected on 22-10-18 and is now exempt from inspection.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The original B18 engine performs admirably, and the transmission operates as it should. Elegant engine compartment with polished accents. The regular function of the ignition lock is merged with a start button that currently hangs beneath the ignition lock. The key causes the lock to spring back, but no electrical signal is sent. The underbody was thoroughly scraped clean of underbody seal and painted in the matte black that still seems newly painted today, including the period-typical colorfully painted prop shaft, oil pan, springs, wheel suspension, the inside of the wheels, and more.

  • Interior condition:

Handcrafted leather seats by a well-known local saddler. Despite Nils-desire Olof's to modernize the car, the elegant instrument cluster remains, as does the bakelite steering wheel.

  • Exterior condition:

Quality repaint with a wonderful depth, perhaps from the early 1970s. When Nils-Olof sought to modernize the car's exterior, he did what many others did: he replaced the bandy club moldings with later straight moldings and door handles. The bandy stick moldings remain and are included (photo), however the door handles, original wheels, and hubcaps are missing.

  • General condition:

Dismantled, renovated, and stored, and therefore carefully kept with an updated interpretation in a wonderful condition.

Facts about the model
