Description

1929 was the last production year of this model and then only 2,286 were produced. One of these made its way to Åmsele in Västerbotten, where forestry worker Gustaf Lindblad is said to have attracted a lot of attention with his magnificent American motorcycle.

Twin headlights lit up the gravel country roads and the mufflers with their four pipes, and a very unusual design, created a sound that no one could mistake. But whether Gustaf ever reached the top speed of 138 km/h is probably extremely doubtful.

Over the decades, the Harley wandered to the south of Sweden and in 2003 it ended up with the current owner in Blekinge. Then it was stripped down in parts and a seven-year renovation began.

Several parts were missing and could not be obtained either. But with a background as a designer and toolmaker, the very skilled owner was able to manufacture what was needed himself, including the exhaust system and the engine's camshafts.

When the renovation was coming to an end and the painting was to be done, a slightly more unusual H-D colour was chosen, Maroon with tank sides in creamy white. This colour was optional on the Harley-Davidson program in 1929, but the vast majority of Model Js received the classic olive green colour.

The result was a 20s Harley in a top class, both in terms of mechanics and finish. The renovation was completed in 2010, but it was not registered until 2016. It then won two first prizes at the Nostalgia Festival in Ronneby, the Jury's choice and the Audience's choice.

After it was completed, the motorcycle has only been ridden a few miles. Now the owner thinks that someone else should get to enjoy this fine motorcycle and therefore chooses to sell it.

Facts about the model
