Description

The car's body is a fiberglass Reeva GT designed and developed by well-known Volvo engineer Dan Werbin in his youth in the 1960s. The car was hand built 25 years ago on a stainless steel chassis from a VW 1500 beetle by a well-known car builder (1968 model year). When the car was built, the entire chassis was refurbished and assembled. Front and rear brake discs, refurbished brake calipers, new wheel cylinders, new brake pads, wheel bearings, steering arms, and shock absorbers are all included. A new engine, a factory new Brazil-built 1600 CC/50 HP, was purchased almost 20 years ago from VW Custom Speed-Parts. The transmission is a "Freeway-Flyer" with a higher gear ratio. The top speed is estimated to be around 155 km/h. The exhaust system, which includes a heating chamber, is made of stainless steel. The end pipe and final damper, on the other hand, are made of ordinary steel. The car will never need an inspection or a MOT. Since the car was built, the mileage has not exceeded 40,000 km, and everything has been done to the highest standard and finish. The car is in excellent condition.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine and gearbox are in perfect working order, indicating that it has been properly maintained. Using a Power spark kit, the distributor/ignition is switchless. Brakes work normally, with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes from a VW 1500 from 1968. The wheels are replica Porsche 914 2.0Ls with Pirelli Cinturato tires that have only seen two summer seasons of use.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is made of leather that is in good condition and free of flaws. The white vinyl headliner is in good shape, all of the instruments work, and the floor mats are attached to removable molded inserts. The pedals are abrasion-prone. The heating system is fully functional, with defroster nozzles and vents that can be opened for foot heating, thanks to the engine heating chambers. Two channels that pick up air from the front/spoiler bring fresh air into the compartment. With side windows, the ducts are controlled by cable-controlled dampers and provide good ventilation.

  • Exterior condition:

The body is in excellent condition and has not been damaged. There are a few small scratches in the paint, as well as a few stone chips on the nose (see photos). The chassis and metal body parts have no rust damage. The mirror glass in the right outer mirror has a fuzzy appearance due to background release.

  • General condition:

This Reeva is one of, if not the best, VW-based sports cars we've seen. The car is handcrafted to the highest standards by skilled craftsmen who have prioritized drivability and comfort, as well as insulation and ventilation (which is often never prioritized).

Facts about the model
