Facts about the model
During the 1930s a number of sports versions were made, including the MG Midget T-type. These T-type cars TA, TB, TC, TD and TF were manufactured between 1936 and 1955 with certain interruptions during the Second World War. The last model in that era was the TF 1953–1955. It was the last model with external fenders but now it had the headlamps integrated into the fenders and a slightly inclined grille that showed which way was forward on the G. Still, however, the engine was 1250 cc and 58 hp. The final model year was also offered in the 1500 cc version with 63 hp. A total of 9,602 TF cars were built, of which 3,400 examples had the 1500 engine. Over 60% of the TF cars were exported to the USA.
Already in 1935 W.R. Morris had sold MG to the Nuffield Group. In 1968 MG became part of British Leyland and 1980 it was over. Though the marque lived on with Rover and later BMW but 2005 it was over once again. Now, however, Nanjing Automobile Group has dusted off the name MG once more. But that is quite another story.
