Description

he car was registered in Germany in April 1988 and imported to Sweden in April 2004. At that time, the engine was renovated by Bilateljén. It's in its original configuration with dual carburetors from Dellorto and a Turbo (220hp). The car was also repainted from black to silver metallic. The odometer reading is a little over 900 miles, which is the distance it has covered in Sweden. During the renovation, the odometer was replaced with a new one. It has had two owners here, the current one since March 2021. He is an enthusiast and has, among other things, ensured that the car now has steel threads for the exhaust manifold studs. Additionally, there's a new synchronization for the second gear and a new clutch. The car is regularly serviced with oil and fluid changes, and the timing belt was changed at 500 miles.

For optimal road holding, Spax dampers and coilover springs have been installed, and the car is slightly lowered.

Facts about the model

Lotus was founded in 1948 by Colin Chapman and is renowned for both racing and sports cars. Since 2017, the company has been owned by the Chinese company Geely.
One of the most iconic sports cars was the small two-seater Lotus Elan version 1, manufactured from 1962 to 1973. The epitome of a nimble small sports car, much of its essence can be seen in the Mazda Miata and other modern successors.
The Lotus Esprit was produced from 1976 to 2004. The body shape was designed by the renowned designer Giugiaro, who has many icons on his list of achievements. Many might remember the Series 1 Esprit from the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me," where it even transformed into a submarine. The next generation was later featured in "For Your Eyes Only."
For the 1988 model year, the Esprit underwent a modest modernization with softer body lines. It continued with the same 2.2-liter engine with or without a turbo but switched from a Citroën to a Renault gearbox, which was considered an improvement.
In total, over 10,000 cars were produced during the years of production.
