Description

The owner requested information on the car's history from the Swedish "statsarkiv," revealing it was first registered to a gentleman from Visby, Gotland, in 1959. Between 1960 and 1962, it had three owners from the Stockholm area, then moved to Halmstad with eight owners until 1968, when it dropped out of the Swedish register. The current owner found the car locked in a garage approximately 12 years ago and spent at least 8 years renovating it from the bottom up. Mechanical parts were sourced through the Simca club and suppliers in France, but the bodywork and panels had to be handcrafted, hence the lengthy renovation. Everything on the car was reviewed, repaired, or renovated, with the final touch being the replacement of the convertible roof a few years ago. The car was re-registered in 2020, is inspection exempt forever, and has been lightly driven during summer months since the renovation.

In October 1957, two new sports models appeared: the Océane, a two-door convertible, and the Plein Ciel, a hardtop coupe version. Both had bodywork by Facel. Many of these cars were exported to the United States. Assembled by Facel Metallon, the complicated assembly process made these cars more than twice as expensive as their sedan counterparts, which shared the same chassis and engine, contributing to their rarity today.
