"The Saab 9000 is a pleasant car to drive. Unfortunately, we weren't able to take it for a full test drive due to its being parked in the museum. We could only perform a brief engine start. We recommend a thorough service and inspection before taking it for a roadworthy test at the vehicle inspection station."

Description

Bilweb Auctions has been entrusted with selling the cars that were part of the Saab Memorial Hall collection. Sweden's most charming little Saab museum was started by Norwegian Tron Bach, who moved to Sweden in 2011. After a busy career as a hotel owner, Tron relocated to a small farm in Gullsjö, Vännäs. When he discovered a worn and dented Saab 92 behind a shed, the idea took shape. He decided to start a Saab museum to honor the Swedish cultural heritage of Saab, a car admired worldwide. During the years the museum has been open, over 1,000 visitors have come to this small Norrland village to see the Saab museum. Tron now feels that it is time to close his museum with pride and honor.

The museum will close in time for the auction. We recommend visiting before then. For more information, visit Saab Memorial Hall.

At this auction, there are several cars we haven't been able to remove from the premises. To do so, one of the walls needs to be demolished. This will be done upon the museum's closure so buyers can collect their cars.

About the Car:
Well-maintained 1997 Saab 9000, used by the museum owner on two trips to Norway. The car's last owner is named Ingemar, hence the car is referred to as "Ingemar" at the museum. According to the vehicle registry, the car has had a total of 10 registered owners. Since 2015, it has been housed in the museum. This was one of the vehicles we did not have the opportunity to test drive.

The odometer reads just under 23,400 kilometers, and we have no reason to believe otherwise. The car comes with the original owner's manual, older inspection records, as well as a spare wheel and jack. Last inspected in 2015. It will require service, maintenance, and an inspection before it can be used.

Owner's comment

I purchased this stylish Saab 9000 from my neighbor Ingemar. He is very meticulous, almost a perfectionist, and has taken great care of the car. I used it for two vacation trips to Norway, and it performed very well without any issues. Since then, it has been stored in the museum, where it has remained since 2015.

Facts about the model

The Saab 9000 was introduced in 1985 with a single engine option: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 175 horsepower. The following year, the non-turbo variant, the 9000i, was introduced with 130 horsepower. The Saab 9000 received highly positive reviews from the media and consistently ranked as the second-best-selling car in Sweden after Volvo. In 1992, the model was facelifted and renamed the 9000 CS (Combi Sedan), featuring a lower front and a higher rear. Throughout its production run, the Saab 9000 was a key and popular model, being manufactured until May 6, 1998, when it was succeeded by the Saab 9-5. Present at the final assembly of the last 9000 was, among others, Saab management and designer Björn Envall. The car was driven off the production line by Traffic Magazine's Carl-Ingemar Perstad, who then drove it to the Saab Museum, where it is now part of Saab's collection.
