Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The car starts easily and runs smoothly in both the engine and drivetrain. The carburetor has been recently serviced and works well. All other technical and mechanical aspects such as steering, brakes, clutch, and shifting function properly. A test drive at a moderate pace was flawless. It has not been inspected on a lift, but what could be seen underneath looked good. Since its restoration, the car has always been well cared for. Like all vintage cars, it requires attention and maintenance.
-
Interior condition
The interior features lovely red leather with a patina that enhances the British feel even more. Controls and functions appear to work well. The right rear door cannot be opened from the outside. One of the interior light covers is missing. Heating is available, but the fan needs repair. The headliner is in good condition. The slightly newer radio's functionality is uncertain.
-
Exterior condition
The paintwork is fine and glossy, as are the chrome, glass, and other exterior details. The pegamoid roof is in good condition. The wheels and tires are also in excellent shape. The trafficators are functioning. The engine compartment and the beautiful engine itself are impeccably clean and in pristine condition.
-
General condition
A larger post-war Sports Saloon with impressive performance for its time. The body exudes a 1930s style, but the technology is partly of a later date. The color combination, large wheels, abundant chrome, intricate details, and a thorough and genuine restoration with complete known Swedish history make this a delightful classic and a car of significant motor historical interest.

Facts about the model
William Riley Jr., who had interests in the textile industry, bought into the company in 1896, which had started as Bonnick Cycle six years earlier. With his entry into the firm, the name was changed to The Riley Cycle Company Ltd. Initially, William focused entirely on bicycles, leading to a conflict with his sons who were keen on motorized vehicles. The sons started Riley Engine Company, supplying engines to other manufacturers. After a few years, peace was made, and the companies merged in 1912 to form Riley Coventry Ltd.
Car manufacturing under the Riley name began in 1907 and continued until 1969. During the 1930s, Riley produced Sports Saloons and Coupés that were well-regarded. After the war, production resumed relatively quickly, and one of the models introduced was the larger Sports Saloon RMB, produced from 1946 to 1952. The 2.5-liter "Big Four" engine had twin SU carburetors, producing 90 hp, later increased to 100 hp, with a top speed of over 150 km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h took just under 17 seconds, impressive performance for a large saloon of its time. This earned the Riley RMB a place as a classic Gentlemen's Express. Riley manufactured 6,900 units of this fine Saloon, before the Riley RMF took over in 1952.
