Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly in both engine and drivetrain. During a test drive at a moderate pace, it felt solid and pleasant to drive. It has not been inspected on a lift, but from what could be seen, everything appeared to be in order. There are some indications of rust in a few places, but nothing noted by the vehicle inspection.
-
Interior condition
A fine and well-appointed interior with leather and wood details. Everything is in good condition with mild wear. The sunroof's functionality is uncertain and did not work during the test drive. The AC function should also be checked. Additionally, the audio system needs to be looked over, possibly requiring a code.
-
Exterior condition
The paintwork appears to be original, with a glossy finish and normal wear for its age and mileage. There are a few door dings, minor dents, scratches, and stone chips. The glass and lighting details are in good condition. The rims and tires are also in good shape. The engine and trunk compartments show signs of use, and a thorough inspection and reconditioning would significantly improve their condition.
-
General condition
A premium car from Audi when they made their bold entry into the luxury car segment. This vehicle features all the equipment available at the time. Yes, there are details to address and refine, but the German quality has held up well over the years, making the work easier now. This car has now crossed the threshold into classic status and is a wonderful representative of the early 90s.

Facts about the model
After World War II, both Europe and its car industry were in ruins. When Germany was eventually divided into different occupation zones, large parts of Auto Union ended up in the Soviet and later East German section. Consequently, after the war, Auto Union only produced DKW vehicles at its factory in Ingolstadt, West Germany. The other three brands were put on hold.
In the late 1950s and early 1960s, a process began where first Mercedes and then Volkswagen gradually took over the operations. This occurred between 1964-66. The plan was to create a brand to complement VW's lineup. DKW felt outdated with its two-stroke models, Horch, which had been a luxury car brand but had a somewhat tarnished image since the Nazi era, was not suitable, and Wanderer was largely forgotten—so the choice fell on Audi.
Under the leadership of Ferdinand Piëch, among others, Audi began a journey in the 1980s to climb into the premium class and compete with prestige brands like BMW and Mercedes. The company's motto became "Vorsprung durch Technik" (Advancement through Technology). A milestone was the Audi Quattro concept with four-wheel drive. This quickly gave them a sporty image and rally success. When the regular models also got four-wheel drive, it boosted the brand significantly. Moreover, Audi boldly entered the prestige class with its Audi V8 model. Produced between October 1988 and November 1993, it was succeeded by the Audi A8.
The V8 model was based on the 100/200 series and featured four-wheel drive and a 3.6-liter V8 engine. In the 1992 model year, a 4.2-liter version was introduced, reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h. It came with a four-speed automatic transmission from ZF, as well as five and six-speed manual transmissions. Standard features included leather and walnut trim and a Bose sound system. Additionally, it had almost all available safety, electrical, and comfort features offered by Audi. It was not a volume car, but reportedly 19,330 units were sold.
