Facts about the model

The Peugeot 504 was a car model produced between 1968 and 1983. It was launched as Peugeot's flagship and was known for its excellent comfort, especially due to its split rear axle. The estate version, Break, was introduced in 1970, and a seven-seater model called Familiale completed the lineup. These two models, along with the somewhat simplified sedan version 504L introduced in 1973, had a solid rear axle.

Until 1972, the GL version used a steering column-mounted gear lever (which continued until 1976 in the L model). After that, it was replaced with a floor-mounted gear lever. There was also an automatic transmission option. The engines were gasoline and diesel engines with a displacement ranging from 1.8 to 2.3 liters.

In 1983, the model was replaced by the Peugeot 505 in Europe. The Coupe and Cabriolet versions with V6 engines were introduced in August 1974 and were among the world's first mass-produced cars with an electronic ignition system (Schlumberger). The car featured a 2.7-liter V6 engine (PRV) with a 3-speed automatic or 4-speed manual gearbox. The Cabriolet V6 was produced until 1977 and then reverted to a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine until production ceased in 1983. After 1977, the Coupe continued as V6TI with a 2.7-liter PRV engine with mechanical K-Jetronic Bosch injection producing 144 hp and only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, there was the TI model with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed/automatic gearbox, and later, from August 1979, with a 5-speed/automatic gearbox.
