"The car is complete, with a presentable engine bay showing good overall condition. It rolls easily, making it straightforward to move and load, and the engine turns over when the car is pushed in gear. However, it has not been started or tested, and will require a full inspection and recommissioning before being put back on the road."

Description

There is no documented early history with the car, though several details suggest it was originally sold in Sweden. It retains a vintage Swedish “S” badge on the boot, and the speedometer is calibrated in kilometres rather than mph.

The earliest known information indicates an owner in Borås in 1975, followed by acquisition by the previous owner in 1978. The car was last registered and inspected in 1995. It also appears that the engine was renovated, most likely in the early 1990s. The previous owner was a dedicated Buick enthusiast who owned several cars — we even had the pleasure of selling his Roadmaster last year.

After his passing a few years ago, the car seemingly disappeared from the estate and was eventually reported stolen in 2025. Fortunately, a customer later tipped us off, leading to its rediscovery in a garage in Tranemo, where it had been stored for over six years.

Unfortunately, the interior has suffered from mice damage during storage. The seats have been eaten and the door cards chewed. However, everything appears salvageable, and with reupholstery and care, the interior could be brought back to its former charm.

The engine is Buick’s overhead-valve inline eight-cylinder unit, presenting in good overall condition visually, though it has not been started or tested.

Paired with a 3-speed manual gearbox, this drivetrain is known for its durability and longevity. These robust powerplants proved themselves over decades of use, powering everything from passenger cars to trucks throughout the 1940s and 1950s with a reputation for smooth running and reliability.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine turns over when the car is pushed in gear, and the engine block and bay appear to have been renovated at some point, with everything in place. The car rolls easily, making it straightforward to load onto a trailer. BWA has not started or fully tested the car.

  • Interior condition

Sadly, the interior has suffered from mouse damage, mainly affecting the seats and door cards. Fortunately, everything appears salvageable, though reupholstery will be required. Interior is otherwise complete, with the dashboard and instrumentation in place. The only noted missing item is the metal cover for the glove box.

  • Exterior condition

Solid, thick steel body with no rust issues — these cars were built like tanks. The underbody is clean and well-preserved, clearly showing it has been well cared for over the years. Please note, the front wing-mounted spare wheel is missing, along with two rear chrome bumper horns. Paintwork is worn and partly repainted, with some dents, stone chips, and marks visible. That said, it still presents well overall considering its age.

  • General condition

A golden opportunity to acquire this car at a very sensible reserve, leaving plenty of room to recommission it and get it back on the road. Perfect to enjoy on summer drives and take to your next car meet. Parts availability remains good, and there’s strong support from enthusiast communities and Facebook groups ready to help along the way.
