"A wonderful car that offers a combination of 60s charm, good comfort, and excellent sporty driving characteristics. For over 40 years, it has been owned and enjoyed as an enthusiast car by two brothers. A car that is always ready for a few more miles along our country roads."

Description

Swedish-sold and registered on January 1, 1963. The current owner acquired the car in 1996 from his brother, who had purchased it in 1982. The car comes with a list of all the work done by the brothers. When the current owner acquired the car, the odometer read 10 001 kilometers, which had been rolled over in the mid-80s. Since then, he has driven just over 14 000 kilometers, and the odometer now reads 24 130 kilometers, which is most likely 124 130 kilometers since new.

The records include both small and large repairs, including a thorough engine overhaul 5000 kilometers ago with reboring, new pistons, bearings, lifters, cam chain, and various components. Receipts for most of the work are available, with suppliers primarily being British Motor in Stockholm and A-H Spares LTD in England. Inspection papers from 1985 and much other documentation, along with literature, are included. The car comes with two keys, is inspected, and is ready to drive.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily, the engine ran smoothly and with good power. During a short test drive on country roads, the car felt stable with excellent handling, well-functioning steering, clutch, gearbox with operational overdrive, and good braking performance.

Not inspected on a lift, but what could be seen appeared to be in good condition.

  • Interior condition:

Newer interior in original style. Comfortable seats with leather on the seat and back surfaces, and vinyl upholstery elsewhere. The door panels and trim are in great condition. The textile floor mats are in excellent shape as well. The steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are also in good, working condition. The heating system is present but has been bypassed.

  • Exterior condition:

Colorado Red in great condition with a mild patina. The glass, chrome, trim, emblems, and lighting details are in good condition considering the car's age and mileage. There is a small drill hole from the reverse light on the rear bumper. The spoke wheels are in excellent condition, fitted with period-appropriate Blockley tires. The engine and luggage compartments are also in good condition.

  • General condition:

A delightful Big Healey in a classic sporty design that is often copied. The body flows beautifully, with large spoke wheels and impressive tires, coupled with a potent engine and overdrive. The look, performance, condition, and care from enthusiastic owners make it a fine and sought-after classic and enthusiast car from the era of British sports cars.

Owner's comment

Due to age and mobility, it is now time to part ways with our beloved sports car, which we have had for 30 years. Now, one of our other previous enthusiast cars will make a comeback. A Citroën 2 CV suits us better at this point.

Facts about the model

The Austin Healey 3000, known as the "Big Healey," was produced between 1959 and 1967 in the following series/model years: Mk1 (59-61), Mk2 (62-64), and Mk3 (65-67). The bodies were built by Jensen Motors, and the cars were assembled at the BMC/MG factory in Abingdon, alongside the company's MG models. Over 90% of the production was exported to the USA, and the car was highly successful in racing and rallies during its time. Today, the model is a popular choice for competition enthusiasts in historic rallies.

It was available in two versions: 2-seater and 2+2. The engines were 2,912 cc. The BJ7 model was introduced in August 1962 as the 1963 model year. This version featured, among other things, a "panoramic windshield" in the front, fixed side windows, and was considered an open sports car with saloon-like comfort. It was also fitted with twin SU HS6 carburetors. A total of 6,113 BJ7 2+2 sports convertibles were built.
