Description

One of the first MX5s imported to Sweden by the general agent Olle Olssons Bilkompani, for racing and exhibition purposes. After its time as an exhibition car, it was purchased by racing driver Tony Ring. The next owner, who also raced the car, owned it from 1999-2008 and 2011-2018. The current owner purchased it from him in May 2018.

Never driven in winter, so it is rust-free. The car has driven approximately 10,700 km, but the engine was replaced in 2008. SBF vehicle book for Roadsport.
Drivetrain: 1600 cc direct injection with overhead camshafts, 16 valves.
Coolant re-router for better cooling.

Newer radiator, electrically controlled cooling fan.
Direct intake for intake air with KN air filter.
Lightened flywheel.
Performance exhaust system in stainless steel.
Five-speed gearbox with limited slip differential.
Engine replaced and serviced in 2008.
Tuned on a rolling road to 116 hp.
Handling: Coilovers with AFCO shock absorbers with adjustment for damping in both directions and custom-made spring seats.
Delrin bushings in front suspension with camber/caster adjustment bolts.
Carbotech brake pads and steel braided brake lines.
Reinforced undercarriage for a stiffer body.
Safety: Removable roll cage, SBF approved.
FIA approved seats for driver and passenger.
FIA approved six-point harnesses, driver and passenger, with the original ones still mounted.

Comes with documents containing information from previous owners who raced with the car. The car passed its inspection on March 29th, 2023 and is ready to drive.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and runs well, of course a bit bumpy when driving calmly on the road, you can feel that it's a prepped car. Many upgrades have been made for stability and handling as well as engine preparation. Everything appears to be functioning as it should.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in good condition but shows some wear from its time as a competition car. It features Sparco seats and a "snap-off" steering wheel.

  • Exterior condition:

Overall in good condition, but it has some dents and patina from the racing tracks. In recent years, it has been driven on both tracks and roads, but not actively in competition. The convertible top is in good condition.

  • General condition:

A motorhistorically interesting car with Swedish background, for both track and street use - now with over 30 years behind it. Despite that, it is relatively unscathed and has low mileage in good condition, a fine classic that is both usable and ready to drive.

Facts about the model

When the classic sports cars from the British isles disappeared during a time of standardization and safety considerations, Mazda struck in the late 1980s. Suddenly, a small sports car appeared that was a flirt with the past but still had a future. With a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive, and a clear design reminiscent of the Lotus Elan with pop-up headlights, it became an immediate success. The first version of the Mazda MX5 (Miata) went on sale in 1990. The generation produced from 1990-1997 is called the NA. The engine was a 1596 cc mounted lengthwise with 16 valves and 116 horsepower, as well as a five-speed manual gearbox. It wasn't really a speed demon, but in a small, low car it was more than enough. It was not only fun to drive, but also a very reliable car without oil leaks and with a tight-fitting convertible top. From the beginning, a functional hardtop was also offered.

Today, the MX-5 is the world's best-selling sports car and has received numerous awards over the years. The NA generation has already achieved cult and collector status.
