"A reasonably priced and attractive bicycle in exceptionally restored like-new condition. The owner started it when it was purchased, but since then, it has been resting in the warmth of the TV room."

Description

It was registered in Sweden in 1982, but whether it was imported from England or re-registered, the owner is unsure, and we haven't conducted further research on the matter. However, the first scenario is more likely, as it's not uncommon for vehicles imported in the 70s or 80s to be listed as "Not imported" in the register. In any case, it was heavily used in the 80s and 90s by some riders on the west coast before the previous owner had it renovated and customized. The current owner purchased it in 2018 and has only ridden the bicycle for 5 km since then, using it primarily as a showpiece. And as such, it can withstand scrutiny in every detail.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Renovated and built by the previous owner, with the engine work carried out by the well-known P & B MC in Sjövik, just outside of Gothenburg, known for their quality, attention to detail, and reliability—when ridden, that is. The first owner after the renovation and the current owner haven't dared to ride it, except for the last inspection in 2017 and a short test ride afterward. Therefore, it has only covered a total of 15 km, with just 5 km after the inspection. The engine was built with 750cc cylinders, giving it slightly higher power than on paper. A notable modification by P & B, outside of the original specifications, is an oil filter discreetly placed in the middle of the frame. Furthermore, the bike also features an electronic ignition system, a blessing for many owners and motorcycles. The auction bike has defied stereotypes about British motorcycles and has not leaked any oil whatsoever during the years it has been stored in the current owner's TV room.

  • Interior condition:

Inside, there's a mix of electrical components under the saddle, which itself is a stylish and appropriately café-sporty piece of high-quality craftsmanship.

  • Exterior condition:

Exemplary exhibition condition throughout, with an emphasis on quality evident in every detail. The owner's reluctance to take the motorcycle out on the road is understandable, given its pristine condition. As a result, it has been proudly displayed in the center of the living room, where it can be admired from the sofa. Many original parts or newly manufactured parts from the UK, "nothing Asian." The owner also specifically noted that both the rims and tires "are not manufactured anywhere other than in England." These are important details for enthusiasts and collectors.

  • General condition:

A gem, an art piece, or for those who dare and desire, an exceptionally beautiful and rideable bike in a refined condition from the era when the British motorcycle industry was overtaken by its Japanese counterpart. It represents a piece of motorcycling history that has been preserved in stunning form

Facts about the model

The Bonneville T120 is indeed an English classic with a unique oil tank solution where a part of the frame serves as an oil tank. Among motorcycle Anglophiles, the Bonneville and its sibling, the Trident, still hold a special place and are highly sought after. Everyone is aware of the Japanese motorcycle industry's dominance and subsequent decline in the early 1970s, but the Triumph Trident bikes with their pushrod engines defeating Honda motorcycles with their advanced engines at Daytona Speedway in 1971 is a memorable victory that enthusiasts will never forget. It was a final gasp and a final triumph.
