"The owner last actively used the car in 2017 years ago, and it has been stored in a warm garage since then. It starts up easily and runs smoothly, although the brakes are slightly binding, and the fuel filter requires replacement. A straightforward service and review should quickly return it to good driving condition. The car is permanently exempt from inspection."

Description

Originally sold by Bilbolaget in Kristianstad in 1938, the subsequent history of the car is largely unrecorded, including a span of years when it was not registered, until it was re-registered in 1997. Acquired by the current owner in its existing state, it appears to have undergone a restoration approximately 20-25 years ago. Previous owners were British car enthusiasts who have both passed away. The car was last started 4 years ago and has since been kept in a heated garage. Currently, the car is in good condition, requiring only minor cosmetic updates along with a detailed service and inspection. It comes with the original handbooks and manuals, and the owner is a member of the Standard 10 Owners Club.

The chrome detailing is shiny and presentable, though it shows a few marks and signs of oxidation. There are no urgent repairs needed.

Facts about the model

The introduction of the '10' in March 1936, along with the rest of the Flying range, marked Standard's adoption of the bold styling trends popular in both Europe and America at the time. Moving away from the conservative design and upright posture of its predecessors, the Flying 10 featured an arched roofline, a cascading waterfall grille and pronounced bulbous wings. Constructed on a robust cruciform-braced, ladder frame chassis, it was equipped with all-around leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes for smooth handling. The vehicle was propelled by a four-cylinder engine linked to a four-speed manual transmission, blending performance with the era's cutting-edge design.
