Volvo PV 831 Droska 6 cyl/3,7l — 1950

During the 1940s and 1950s, this car model dominated the taxi market. Here's a Norrland example that's been garage for a few years. It requires a start-up service and polishing.

Description

When the current owner, a driver from Härnösand, retired eight years ago, he bought the car to renovate. It has unfortunately been abandoned and needs a new owner who will look after it. There is no rust or blisters on the body, and it is in good condition. It also looks fantastic in the chassis. The interior, including the old taximeter, is completely original. To match the dark red front wings, the seats are upholstered in red plush (now sun-bleached). The front lamp frames (which can be purchased new) and rear bumpers are both missing. The headliner, as well as the rubber mats, have dried out and must be replaced. The engine is appealing to the eye and can be rolled around by hand. It had to be renovated about 15 years ago.
The car was used as a taxi from 1950 to 1975, after which it was subjected to a rolling renovation that lasted until 1983 but was never completed. A man from Härnösand bought it in 1997 and repainted it, replaced the seats, and rebuilt the engine. However, before selling it to the current owner in 2012, he only drove it a few times.  Because it is a historically significant model, it is also an excellent candidate for fine-renovation. We estimate the mileage to be just over 40,000 miles because it was an ex-taxi for over 20 years.

Facts about the model
