"A classic sports car that is mostly in original condition."

Description

This fine Volvo was sold new at Volvo in Karlskoga in July 1967. The production number was 727 out of 1500 made. The first owner drove very few miles with the car. In 1980, the then owner was rear-ended on the left front fender which was then replaced. However, this fender was for the wrong model year, so the current owner, who bought the car in September 2017, replaced it with the correct one. The car is in very fine condition both externally and internally.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Original engine and gearbox. Seal replaced at the gearbox. Brakes were completely overhauled in 2017, and a two-inch exhaust system was installed. The clutch was also replaced about 5 years ago. All technical functions in the car operate flawlessly.

  • Interior condition

Very fine seats that surely have had slipcovers for many years. Panels and headliner in very good condition. The original carpet is cracked in some places and the floor mats are not original.

  • Exterior condition

Fine varnish despite many years of use. Chrome and trim in good condition. There is a scratch on the right rear bumper. Glass and lights also in good condition.

  • General condition

A very good overall impression of this fine Volvo Sport. Some wear parts have been replaced over the years to ensure the car's function.

Owner's comment

Manufacturing number 727 of 1500. B18 with twin SU and manual transmission with overdrive. I bought the car on September 8, 2017, and I then became the third owner of the car. At that time, the car had traveled 92,620 km. I replaced the left front fender because the old one was from the wrong model year. Otherwise, the car is in original condition except for a two-inch exhaust system. Some wear parts have been replaced over the years.

Facts about the model

The Volvo 140 was named Car of the Year in 1966 by the Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld. The engine in the standard 144 was the same as the one found in the standard Amazon (121), a 1.8-liter B18A, but the 144S received the more powerful B18B from the 123GT and 1800S. Late in the 1967 model year, production of the Volvo 142 (2-door sedan) began in time to build 1500 units for the first year. In 1968, production of the Volvo 145 5-door station wagon began, completing the three body styles used in the 140 series.
