Description

This early type 1 was sold new and renovated in Norway. Imports into Sweden in 1989, and still remains in very good condition both inside and out. The car was renovated into it original condition in the 1980´s it has very nice a straight bodywork. The interior with seats and door cards were upholstered in the original fabric. As it should, this early type 1 should rolls on the timely and faithful diagonal tires. No significant remark but the clear coat is thinker in some areas. Some small marks and washing scratches can be found. Rubber seals have dry cracks.
Swedish sold car were mostly more luxurious, this Norwegian export model was more spartanly equipped with fewer chrome details. Engine number 10145155.

Facts about the model

1949 var ett år med stora modellförändringar. Några av nyheterna var navkapslar med mindre emblem, ny inre backspegel och tvåekrad ratt, ny kopplingslamell, heltäckande gummimatta och bättre cylindrar – gjutna med högre fosforhalt.
Volkswagens historia kan spåras ända tillbaka till 1898 då Ferdinand Porsche fick sitt första jobb, hos automobilbyggaren Jacob Lohner & Co i Wien.
1934 överlämnade Porsche sin programförklaring och skisser på en tysk folkbil till tyska regeringen – vilket blev startpunkten för världens mest producerade bil.
Visionen var en liten bil med luftkyld motor bak och plats för fyra personer – dessutom billig att köpa och sköta om. Dessutom skulle den kunna nå 100 km/h och klara stigningar på runt 30 procent.
1938 lades grunden till Volkswagenwerk en bit utanför Hannover men först 1946 var bilproduktionen igång på allvar. Sverige var ett av de första länder som VW exporterades till i större omfattning och 1948 kom de första bilarna.
Den 10 juni samma år undertecknade Volkswagen kontraktet med svenska generalagenten Scania-Vabis och sammanlagt kom 55 bilar till Sverige under det första året – varav de fyra första provbilarna testades hårt. Övriga levererades först året efter, då ytterligare 375 stycken togs in.
